and getting to watch all your shows ends up being far more expensive than cable ever was due to every company under the sea and sky wanting their own streaming service to exclusively hold their shows

wanna watch a Disney show? subscribe to the Disney service
warner brothers related? subscribe to the warner brothers service
wanna watch anime? subscribe to a crap ton of services because unless it's funimation related chances are it's gonna be fought over by the other services

and you get the picture...

Yeah, it'll be a huge pain in the ass for those of us who work to pay for the subscriptions ourselves.

It's already getting to the point where cutting the cord is the same as the cost of cable of you want all your shows and sports. I don't think it's accidental tbh.

streaming is gonna kill itself if they don't slow down and realize that not every company needs it's own service to hoard it's stuff

The problem is they think the othe companies should stop and not them. Mainly because they want all the money... probably...

It'll hit a critical point where only a tiny handful of individual services are actually sustainable, causing the others to collapse and be bought out by more successful companies. I figure that cycle will continue pretty much endlessly until a new distribution paradigm emerges. Streaming won't die unless it's replaced.

This is why I just buy the movies and shows I like on disc. Problem solved.

I just don't see the streaming future being that bright if you gotta sign up for a crap ton of services and eventually a crap ton more when the shows start bouncing between other services
