What a disingenuous point of sale

You don't have to stand and salute/hand over heart for someone else's country/flag. You shouldn't have Nationalistic pride for it.

It's when you don't do it for your own you are a Piece of shit. (Not to be confused with Point of Sale)

As much as it's a "whatever", it's also like not celebrating the Berlin wall being torn down. Obviously not the same, but you have decades of warfare and aggression being pushed aside for the sake of humanism. Not standing is probably not meant negatively, but we should hope he does stand because this is a big deal.

Actually, he might have been

In Friday's ceremony, Pence was seen sitting near none other than Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

But the vice president, per reports from CBS News and the Associated Press, neither interacted with Jong nor stood to recognize the joint North and South Korea team that entered for the ceremony.

Other reports corroborated the suggestion that Pence and his wife, Karen, were the only people in the VIP press box not to stand in recognition of the Korean Olympic delegation, which marched united for the first time since 2007. And Voice of America later reported that Pence willingly opted to sit in the box, so as to be seen by North Korean officials, rather than simply sit with a delegation of only Team USA representatives.

According to BBC, the vice president, who at one point said he might consider meeting with North Korean officials during his time in South Korea, also skipped an Olympic dinner, where he was "due to share a table with North Korea's ceremonial head of state Kim Yong-nam."

"Mr. Pence and Kim Yong-nam were being hosted by (South Korea) President Moon (Jae-in) before the opening ceremony in Pyeongchang.

But the U.S. vice-president left the reception venue after five minutes, South Korea's Yonhap said.

While Mr. Moon and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe both shook hands with Mr. Kim, Mr. Pence did not, South Korean officials said."

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with it at face value. The issue is that it shows any understanding of the disingenuous nature of his responses to the football protests.

Let me remind you, however, that he already has been proven to be a fraud - when he went to the Colts game and left early because some players protested, he used an identical picture from years ago. And he knew that players would protest, which is why he went in the first place - so he could protest their protest.

It doesn't prove anything. He's not protesting them.

I've never stood for the Canadian anthem when I went to sporting events. I'm not protesting Canada. It's just not my country to stand for.

Him not standing for a Unified anthem (and no other country as well) doesn't mean he's protesting Korea. If he stood for other stuff, sure.

If he starts standing and giving reverence at every Gold Medal ceremony to every country except Korea you got something to say.

Pence and the others who complain about kneeling in the NFL only do so to try to make themselves out to be the victim. Because they have a need to feel like the victim in everything. It's the persecution complex. Of course some of them are just racist, and don't like the idea that black people are protesting (they'll complain about violent protests, and then peaceful protests too. They want to dictate the terms in which people protest; namely where they can't be seen or heard). And then you have those who fit into both categories.

It's this stubborn notion of "patriotism" that says that showing even the slightest bit of respect to a country other than your own is being disloyal to your country.

It's the same notion of patriotism that says you should ignore everything bad happening in your country because you have to believe that your country is the best no matter what.

Because deluding yourself honors your country somehow.

I can't think of a single instance where nationalism has done anything beneficial to the country other than stroke the egos of the nationalists who practice it.

On the other hand, I can think of dozens of instances where it's been used to justify all kinds of atrocities, some of which I don't need to mention.
