I'd say a solid 70% of the couples I know who have both kids and dogs are fairly shitty parents. Like they'll undermine each others' authority when dealing with their kids (kid gets denied by mom and immediately goes over to dad who witnessed the exchange and dad says yes), or if the kid does something they're not supposed to the instant response is screaming at them instead of talking to them, stuff like that. Whereas for the ones who have kids and cats, it's more like 30%. I have not been able to find any kind of correlation and it's always bugged me.
