This game is the epitome of repetitive.

If you looked at a dictionary for the term "insanity" this game's box art will be on that page.

Let me tell you what I've been doing this entire time:

1. Ride to a fucking city because there's no fast travel
2. Do 3 side quests that are all the fucking same to unlock the assassination
3. Listen to a bunch of dialogue with still models because Goobysoft didn't know what cutscenes were in 2007
4. Throw my target away from his 40 guards to hidden blade him
5. Repeat x9

All the while I'm being harassed by beggars and I have no money to throw at them, heralders who repeats the same lines before I can even leave the area, and literally 30 thieves who I'm supposed to defend because they were caught stealing, fuck me.

And to think GameSpot gave this a 9.5 lol

Luckily the best game in the series is next and I think I'll appreciate it even more now

Least it looks fairly good in 4K

Except in this game, sometimes you don't instant-kill them and just punch them away

Granted, it did get a lot of things right the first time, but compare that to Unity, which somehow went back a million steps in the process of jumping to 8th gen and I think Unity is still worse.

2 is one of my favorite games ever and Brotherhood is like the Super Mario Galaxy 2 of the series so really 1 and Unity are the black sheep

Shit, 4 was repetitive as hell if you actually tried to do anything like upgrade your ship or collect treasure chests :\

It was good for it's time. I'm not sure what people expect from a game that came out 1 year into the PS360 life cycle. I'd also take Altair over bland ass Ezio any day of the week

You don't understand

2 improves in literally every way

Ezio climbs twice as fast and has extra climbing abilities
You have two hidden blades instead of 1
To that extent you have more weapons than just a sword/hidden blade/knives
You can assassinate from haybales, from the air, and on ledges
FAST TRAVEL
Ezio isn't a pompous ass like Altair was and therefore is more appealing to new players
One of the greatest final boss fights in the history of video gaming
Running away from enemies is even easier/there are mechanics that can reduce your notoriety
CUTSCENES
Hell AN ACTUAL STORY

There's a reason AC2 is known as the ultimate comeback kid in video games

AC3 gets such a bad rep too; I hope they remaster that so I can experience it again properly

I mean, it got a 9.0 from gamespot not 9.5 although not like reviews (especially of the most laughable industry of all) should ever matter.

Anyway at the time it was really something else. Most people called it repetitive and it pretty much is, but I feel lucky that it was one of the first few games I played outside of gta so I actually didn't mind it one bit, though I'd be hard pressed to play it now.

But yeah all points you mention like no fast travel are very much true. I honestly just really liked the crusades era theme and the story had a lot of intrigue, both the ancient assassin's story and the modern day story, about the only time it was ever intriguing.

And hey, it will make you appreciate AC 2 and the contrast between the likable Ezio and the kind of just there Altair.

Altair's segments in Revelations are some of the best in the series, so he definitely got better with time.

I played AC2 first so I've been putting this off until now

My problem is that all 3 cities look and feel almost identical aside from a few landmarks

God 2 was such an improvement I think I might 100% it

Yeah, Revelations made me like Altair a lot more. One of my favorite moments in the series is Ezio finding Altair's final resting point and the two of them "syncing" together.

It is the best most realistic AC game yet, you see the true vision in presentation/story

gameplay took a backseat, AC 2, Brotherhood delivered the gameplay & story....whole trilogy was great

Only game that matched both AC 1 feel & AC2 story was AC UNITY, the greatest AC to date. "The Brothehood" Online MP it's realized.

BlackFlag was a stupid joke like the story in it tells you, yes because Animus is used for movies lol

funny most casuals that never been there since day 1 liked that one, funny right?

Story is actually something I consider a bit of a weak point for 2, especially near the end with all the timeskips and the beginning of the stupid shit with juno and minerva and whatnot, not to mention the final boss also being rather lame so surprised you liked it.

And AC 3 really is that bad. I only just played the game and boy is it bad. From gameplay to characters to story. Like, not even just disappointing, outright bad. I haven't gotten far in AC 4 but it's amazing just how much I liked it when I thought 3 would stain everything, but from the get go AC 4's self awareness in the modern day section won me over, and I'm enjoying sailing and hunting sea animals etc, who knew they'd make such a fun sailing pirate game.

I feel like everybody kind of looks back at that era of video games as something it wasn't. As mentioned, the game came out 1 year into the PS3's life cycle and 2 years into the 360's as a completely new IP.

What else did we get on consoles in 2007 that's still alive? Like Bioshock (barely), Mass Effect, and Uncharted?

You can't call that stupid, all of that stuff is the backbone of the series. It is like some idiots that wish

their to be no Animus when that is the tool that allows Ubisoft to play wit History, Ubisoft didn't make

AC like is Farcry where they can make up random places, characters, they wanted AC to literally be

a Historical Tool.

Reminder AC Origins will literally have a FREE DLC Historical Mode that people can use, surely not all 100% accurate

but it leads the way to the History for subject.

Brotherhood was just DLC basically, continuing the story with the Borgias, dealing with his Jesus looking son.

Ubisoft realized the actual real Brotherhood when they made possible fans of the game to

be online as a "Brotherhood" taking down missions.

AC1 was a lot of fun and a cool new idea when it came out, but yeah it was repetitive and the later games did everything better.

I actually like the slow climbing and having to look where you're going. It wasn't the biggest challenge in the world, but in the last few games, there's no surface you can' climb straight up so you don't need to put any thought into at all.

I do like how the Assassin's creed and brotherhood are a big thing in the game and how Altair has trained his whole life to be an assassin. I never liked how the Assassins took a back seat later on or how protags like Edward had all the skills an elite assassin has just cus

And I know people don't like the simplicity of the combat, but landing counters and killing enemies was at least pretty satisfying. But I don't think AC combat has ever been good tbh. The series is really a jack of all trades, master of none

Long story short, Desmond and his ancestors are descendants of Those Who Came Before, all of which had enhanced sense and agility, hence his Eagle Vision and climbing coming naturally.

Yeah, I felt AC1 was cool for a first attempt but 2 just improved everything (including art design, because damn was the first game bland in color choices). I only went back to AC1 later for a full sync playthrough with all collectibles...because I like to do that on a lot of games. Otherwise, not much reason to do it since there's no trophy support.
