So this is the cost of buying out the American public so they wont give a f*** about letting corporations get away with saving billions that they have no incentive to reinvest into their businesses. Sad

"No matter what, Donald Trump and the GOP is mean to me! I'm not sure how, but I'm sure!"

Oh Im pretty sure how. Cutting taxes during a period of economic expansion = lack of funding during an inevitable recession = GOP trying to cut social programs as theyve done in the past. Also, corporations saving billions and not having to give it away to taxes = no incentive to reinvest it back into their businesses = less economic growth and less job creation. Is that specific enough?

Because they're not loaded with 370,000,000 people, half of whom are batshit crazy.

I wish we could do a social experiment where we could see how long it takes Denmark's social services to be out of money after taking care of the American south.

The majority of the money from these cuts is going to corporations, not the American people. And again itll inevitably lead to cuts in social programs that millions of people rely on. Also these cuts expire in 4 years whereas the corporate ones dont.

Well, unfortunately that's not the case either. It would be really nice if people started actually petitioning for better, more comprehensive government programs, though.

Right now it just appears as though the government can't take care of its people and the people can't take care of themselves.

A large amount of the conservatives here are just trolling.

Not to say all conservatives are trolls, but theres no reason to really be celebrating here. Yay I got an extra $20! But now the roads are shit, education funding is slashed, and theres no more Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. But at least I angered some liberals!!!!

Its compounded even worse because the GOP base use those social programs a lot too. And then again, when the cuts are ended, Republicans are just gonna be like BUT DEMOCRATS and the base will eat it up.

And having higher taxes on corporations leads to more jobs. Companies can either pay part of their profit in taxes or reinvest it into the business, and most tend to reinvest.

This is functionally what happens. Each time corporate taxes are cut the profits are less likely to go back into the business and are instead kept by the people at the top.

Liberals can complain how bad these tax cuts are all they want, the fact of the matter is struggling families will see a bigger paycheck thanks to it. When youre in that position youll gladly take what you can get. Its easy saying how bad these tax cuts are from the sidelines, but ~$100 extra a month can make a tangible difference for burdened families

No one is complaining about tax cuts for struggling families.

People are complaining about millionaires and billionaires getting huge cuts at the expense of important government programs.

Well the issue is largely that many candidates end up running unopposed or exist in an area heavily gerrymandered in their favor.

Courts have been doing a good job lately at knocking down some of the gerrymandering attempts. SC is the biggest example of that I can think of. Not any good solutions to prevent people running unopposed tho.

Well it's hard to get people motivated to vote when often it won't make a difference. You would improve voter turnout by fixing the issues that allow a single candidate to dominate a ballot.

In 2 or 3 years, remember your way of thinking. If it's a terrible idea and the wealth gap widens, consider yourself right.

But at least admit it when the standard of living for everyone increases (it will). Things have stagnated for like 40 years, and we finally have a HUGE change in how taxes and government programs are run, and you're still upset. And you're only upset because it wasn't done the way you want. (Free stuff without incentive)

Giving people money is the easiest platform to run on. "Vote for me, I'll give you money."
In theory, it's a no brainer to not vote for that. But people are realizing that they are empty promises (see the last 40 years).

Those who are worried about the government losing money because of tax cuts. Donate your tax savings to the federal government.

In 2 or 3 years, remember your way of thinking. If it's a terrible idea and the wealth gap widens, consider yourself right

Umm, I can already 100% guarantee this will happen. Many studies showing this already.

But at least admit it when the standard of living for everyone increases (it will). Things have stagnated for like 40 years, and we finally have a HUGE change in how taxes and government programs are run, and you're still upset. And you're only upset because it wasn't done the way you want. (Free stuff without incentive)

I 100% agree standard of living will increase currently, what I'm saying is it would increase more if the larger tax breaks were given to those of lower status rather than upper class and corporations. The huge change I don't know what you are talking about, tax cuts have happened before. I'm still waiting for the trickle down from 40 years ago. I guess the Bush tax cuts weren't as large but they were still tax cuts, still waiting for the trickle down there too. I don't understand the "free stuff without incentive" I'm just asking for PEOPLE not CORPORATIONS to get the larger cuts (notice I'm not saying nobody should get cuts, just provide the larger cuts to the people who need them more - and if you say this economic practice should work how it is supposed to, then supposedly these people will spend their extra cash at business to help "un-stagnate" the economy.)

Herein lies the biggest problem, it's because we allow corporations to lobby. So the people with more money lobby for their candidates and in turn get these huge breaks (very simplified, but you get the point). You're right "vote for me, I'll give you money" should work, It's not my fault the lower class aren't voting that way. Clearly they are persuaded by a few extra bucks while the higher ups get the larger breaks.

You have to keep in mind, I understand people who pay more taxes should get more money back, duh. But, you have to look at the percentages as I alluded to in a previous post. I should be happy I'm getting an extra 5% cut in my taxes (yay $150/month extra!), but it's clearly blinding you from the fact that the guy making millions is getting a 15% cut in his taxes (millions/month extra!). I'll try and add numbers say I make $1000/month, with the tax break I now make $1100/month (Wowee! An extra 10%/month!). Now, the guy making $20,000/month gets the tax break and is taking home $24,000/month (That is an extra 20%.) So what I'm saying is why not let the guy making $1000/month take home $1200 (20% extra) and the guy who makes $20,000/month take home $22,000/month (10% extra). Everyone get's tax cuts still.

This is what people should be upset about. Yeah, great, you are getting extra money. Well the people above you are getting a shit load of extra money. And yeah the problem is lobbying and voting and will probably never change. It's great to get extra money, don't get me wrong. But this will undoubtedly increase the wage gap and will stifle the economy, possibly back into a recession, in about 4-8 years I would predict.

My paycheck is up about 30 bucks. So an extra 60 dollars a month for me.

That's a new game!

Yeah, the tax cuts are nice, but the filthy billionaireses benefit too! And we hateses them!

Hm. I have yet to receive a pay bump since the 1st, but last month I also received a substantial 21% raise when the company generally limits you to only 5% for perfection. I'm not sure what to expect.

good point, why don't we just zero out all taxes at every level

and then we can also just keep spending a ton on medicare and medicaid -- in fact, lets spend more

I am sure there aren't any consequences to this

lol

I talked with a number of people at work, everyone making between like 70k and 150k, no one was getting more than $10 a paycheck (every 2 weeks). At the end of the day what you are getting now is just how the companies expect it will impact your end of 2018 taxes, could be my company is taking a conservative approach but my CEO is all in on Trump, the company even donated to the inauguration party, so seems like they would have the inside scoop on things.
