How fast can you type per minute?

According to statistics, most people, aka the average, type very slowly at 38-40 words per minute....let's see if that's true.

I've been meaning to take the test since it's free. I normally just guess for applications...

85 wpm with 0 errors according to my typing certificate.

Usually when applying for jobs in an office, they ask for around 35-40 wpm. (Hell, it used to be 20-25 wpm maybe 10+ years ago)

80-90. Though, lots of times I stop and think for a while or go back and change something which slows it down significantly. But that's what it is if I already know what I'm typing or am copying something.

Yeah, I don't believe that in the slightest. Even the fastest typers (typists?) can't consistently type that quickly. You would probably be at least in the top 100 in the world if that was the case.

Depends. Are we talking an "average" speed, or a speed when taking a 1 minute timed test?

As on average, I'm probably in the 70-80 range, but when I do those tests I can usually get closer to 100. There's no way I can maintain a 100 wpm for any real length of time though.

75-85. I tend to lose time on tests because I become super-conscious about typos and because I have a tendency to revise as I type. Back when I was still in high school, my tests averaged 95-105 which was nowhere near close to the fastest in the class. A few of my friends averaged 110-120 and I *think* the fastest in the class might have broken 130 which, then and now, seems pretty high.
