It's just that a women's body is seen as a thing of beauty, and a man's body is seen as ugly. Really, in every movie it's always about how nice the man is, or how manly he is, or strong, or thoughtful, or what have you.

That's why I agreed with the post that said women are more sexualized in film.

Hmmm. I guess I can see that. I don't find men sexually appealing but I can say Idris Elba is a handsome man cause he is. But I still don't think that's the same as saying he's sexy and still not thinking I'm a bit bisexual. Maybe it's our views as a society on sexuality and the two genders that influence both men and women and their perception of the other sexually.

Edit: You know like women being a bit bisexual seems more prevalent than with men because lesbians are treated with a double standard when compared to bisexual men. Decades of that can unconsciously affect what we act on or tell others.

Not to side with the Fluffy one, but do you really think it's likely that almost every religion in almost every culture happens to coincidentally take some kind of disapproving stance on homosexuality? On top of that, you don't think that naturalistic traits inform and direct cultural development? I mean, culture doesn't develop in a vacuum and humans are just as subject to biological influences as any other species. For example, men tend to be more physically aggressive than women...so, it should be no surprise that the war wagers throughout history and warrior castes across the world are overwhelmingly male, regardless of cultural variation.

Also, consider this. If this study that indicates that all women, even heterosexual women, feel some varying degree sexual arousal at sexualized images of other women is evidence that all people are naturally bisexual, surely a similar study with heterosexual men should support that hypothesis?

But the exact opposite is true. A 2017 study in the journal Psychology and Sexuality found that heterosexual men feel the same physiological response of aversion and disgust at the sight of homosexual men kissing as they do to rotten food and maggots. And they found this response to be regardless of the individual men's sexual prejudice or lack there of. Basically, heterosexual men are physically repulsed by displays of same-sex affection even when they have social opinions that don't condemn same sex relationships.

What I suspect is that men and women have different tendencies regarding their sexuality. I think women tend to naturally be more sexually fluid and men tend to naturally be more sexually rigid. That, of course, doesn't mean this applies to every single individual man and woman, but it is an observation of the tendencies displayed as groups.

That's not what the study says. Just that women don't respond more to men than women. The response could be equal.

There's an earlier study like this that also purported to "prove" that all women were bisexual. It also based its finding on this sketchy "pupil dilation". What's notable about that study is that when the straight female participants were asked if they were sexually aroused at the images of naked women, they all responded no.

Essentially, the researchers implied that women don't know their own bodies well enough to know whether or not they're feeling sexually aroused. That's bullshit.

This is dumb, and honestly offensive to say that you are not the sexuality you identify as. Women should not be told that they must be bisexual even if they are not actually sexually aroused by other women.
