it's been called the anti-SAO a few times from what i've seen. if the premise is the main draw for you it does better with that. the main thing LH has going for it is the world building. navigating the politics/economics of the world, interaction with NPCs, that sort of thing. the grand "adventure" isn't really the focus.

I like a nice mix of adventure and worldbuilding. My own writing tries to balance the act. But they're both big deals for me!

hmm i meant that because of the premise that they're stuck in the game, the ultimate objective for the characters becomes "to escape the virtual world" and any adventuring for the purposes of that goal takes a backseat to adventuring for the purposes of learning about the world as that becomes their immediate focus.

I'm so glad I already know Goku and ChiChi get together when they're older because this is just too cute when they're kids.

Oh, if subs aren't necessarily a deal-breaker then I'd also like to recommend Squid Girl (along with Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, not sure if you missed my post or just didn't like the sound of Dragon Maid so you skipped it). Squid Girl has a dub but it doesn't seem easily available. Whenever puns came up during SMFFFC you seemed to enjoy that style of humor so I think SG would appeal to you on that level, in addition to just generally being a great comedy anime.

My Bride Is a Mermaid is a terrible anime. Definitely one of the worst comedies I've seen.

Also the fights are the best part of the F/SN VN! I don't think I've come across other people who don't like them before.

Yeah I guess it's not literally all of them. But I know you also hated Baka and Test which is another of my favourite comedies. (Leon I do not think you would like that one for the record) I also remember you not liking or at least criticizing Konosuba which I liked, though I guess that's one I like less than everyone else also.

i guess i'll post this here for possible input. i don't know if people will get annoyed at how i do things though.

well 2018 is approaching which means it's time to finally start work on my 2001 favorites lists...and beyond! going back and checking out some of the notables that interest me but never got to playing/watching for various reasons so i have a sort of finalized list for years past. also doing music/movies but i'll just stick to games/maybe anime for this topic. games have the additional hurdle of me acquiring them in some way without having to resort to a life of crime so i've made my peace with never getting to play some of these. there's a big enough chance that they wouldn't end up on a favorites list anyway. and if i do play them at some point, i can always affix it to the list down the line so whatever.

i think i'm going to just compile a list of the titles so i can nail down what i'm actually going to attempt to play first. so starting with 2001 games...

Man, this kind of stuff drives me nuts even when it's about my preferred method of consumption for something. I vastly prefer watching anime dubbed but stop making such hardline proclamations that you don't even give people a way to watch subbed if that's their preference and then listing four "reasons" they should have your same perspective
