Any time the game throws a "boss battle that you're not supposed to win because of storyline purposes" at you but doesn't make it obvious that you're not supposed to win. I remember wasting countless items in the first battles against *Tales of Symphonia spoilers* ~~Kratos~~ and ~~Yggdrasil~~ only to find out that the outcomes of both of those fights didn't matter at all. Winning the first fight is possible but very difficult and gains you nothing by doing so, and winning the second is pretty much impossible outside of insane NewGame+ bonuses and still gains you nothing by doing so. The rewards are good, but spending 15 hours of your life trying to find Sotha Sil only to find that his ass was dead from the beginning because of Almalexia herself is a pretty big middle finger IMO. The whole game the priests are like "Nah man, Sotha Sil went loo loo, PRAISE ALMAMLEXIA" and finding out the opposite and then getting your face pushed in by a god is no fun. And to put the cherry on top of said middle finger, unlike in the main game and Bloodmoon where the world thanks you for your deeds and sees you as a hero, the people in Tribunal think your a nutcase for claiming the two god's are dead. You even lose reputation with them if you mention it. When you control the badass ~~Henry, the secret final boss of the first game~~, however, it only lasts for one fight and it's against a hallucination in a dream. The other bosses he eliminates in the story are killed off camera. The characters all joke about his playability, rubbing salt in the wound and making it clear that it was one big meta joke. --- I'm sorry, but 10,000 of ANYTHING on a PS2 would absolutely destroy your framerate. Even worse is when you die in Hardcore mode (in which your character dies permanently), especially when it's due to the server lagging. If you have good items, they're gone. The one with the checkerboard outfit was from 5, which I personally feel is a pretty good game. 1 was good, 2 was great, 3 was good until the twist and then became horrible, 4 was bad, and 5 was pretty good. Calwings posted... Any time the game throws a "boss battle that you're not supposed to win because of storyline purposes" at you but doesn't make it obvious that you're not supposed to win. I remember wasting countless items in the first battles against *Tales of Symphonia spoilers* ~~Kratos~~ and ~~Yggdrasil~~ only to find out that the outcomes of both of those fights didn't matter at all. Winning the first fight is possible but very difficult and gains you nothing by doing so, and winning the second is pretty much impossible outside of insane NewGame+ bonuses and still gains you nothing by doing so.
