... You're joking right? I mean, jeez, even a quick wikipedia search proves you wrong. Heck, of the armed conflicts that the US has been part of since WWII, not including on-going ones, we've won 15 while only losing, like, 4.

You haven't won a war if you didn't claim land in the process, by the original definition.

Dont forget about this event where around 300 wealthy black men and women were murdered for no crimes committed, their homes were destroyed, and survivors were arrested

tbh, I'm not sure that there's any definition which lets you write off the Revolutionary War.

Original definition? The fuck you even talking about. War is a conflict between states.

Nothing states it has to be fought for land.

Not many alone... Stuff like the Mexican-American war though, yeah.

America loves taking credit for saving the planet in WWII, but if either Britain or the USSR had fallen prior to 1943, just one of them, the Germans would've easily secured an armistice and rebuilt any damage before continuing their expansion. Logistically, they couldn't have lost a defensive war to America had they beaten either of the other two first. WWII needed at least the British, the Russians, and the Americans working together simultaneously.

Land might be a misnomer, but if nothing is gained then nothing was won.

Even going by THAT definition: Mexican American War, Philippine-American War, American Revolution, Spanish American War just off the top of my head.

By TC's definition, he's referring to wars the U.S. fought only for its own benefit.

And DeathMagnetic addressed that with his list. Not including the Revolution (what we got from that shouldn't have to be explained), we still hold land acquired in two of the other three named. In fact, I think there are some islands we took from Japan in WWII that we still hold as territories. I just don't recall which ones because I can't remember when exactly we took ownership of all the Pacific islands we hold, and don't feel like looking it up.

Only thing is the Philippine-American War. That one we held land we took in the Spanish-American War, so I'm not sure it would count in TC's definition.

Also, TC seems to only be thinking of gains in a material sense. WWII was the beginning of the U.S. becoming a world superpower. The goal of Korea was to show the spread of Communism wasn't unstoppable (Vietnam was a bit of a black mark against that, but showed that the government can only do so much if the people don't support it). The Gulf War was a demonstration of what it means to be a superpower, when a 500,000 man force can crush a 10 million man army in a couple months (I'm including the air campaign that led up to the ground war).

Was going to add something about Iraq and Afghanistan, but there's no telling where the topic will go after that, and I'm not getting into it.
