Do you support mandatory school uniforms in PUBLIC schools?

It's true. They say that western countries are all the same with the same values but if you look closely, that's not exactly true...

Take public school uniforms for example which is actually adopted AND mandatory in all westernized countries except the United States and Canada.

Places like the UK, Australia..all of Europe, they all have mandatory uniforms that students must wear.

The key difference between the US and Canada now is that the US is more STRICT in what students can and can't wear.

the US punishes students who break the rules and have a lot more in their rulebook in what kids can or can't wear.

Canada however is more lenient and although some don't approve of low cut outfits for girls, many have eliminated that and allowed kids to wear anything they want within small reason.

Also, students in America can't colour their hair..whereas students in Canada are allowed to..

Do you think public schools should have mandatory uniforms? let's see what people think

Here's an example of what female students in Canada can wear but girls in America CAN'T.

Private schools have mandatory uniforms, so your title is misleading. Plus there are definitely other countries without uniforms.

Pretty sure that's completely wrong.

Which is just flat-out wrong. There were students in my high school with blue hair. You think they got that one day to the next without coloring it?

As a swede let me point out that basically all of Sweden's population finds school uniforms to be a rather silly notion altogether.. We do not have them..

I feel like you must have heard this from someone else, as this sorta clues in that you didn't go to an American school.

Completely untrue. American teachers who grope students usually just get sent to a different school. (Thanks, unions!)

I have a lot of close female friends who coot there hair, so that's a lie. That picture looks like stuff girls would wear to my school, so that also seems like a lie. I had to wear a uniform for a private school(so did my younger siblings). So saying American schools have no uniforms is a lie. And I don't remember every school in every other country having to wear a uniform. I would have to do more research, but I believe that is a lie. I know it can be hard to get all The information sometimes. But even a quick internet search before making a topic would be nice.

From the few European countries I've been on student exchanges and the one I grew up in, school uniforms are rare here.

I would have hated to deal with uniforms when I was in school, but in hindsight IMO they make a lot of sense.

For one, it eliminates a big visible distinction between rich/poor by having a base line on how people will dress (as long as the system makes sure everyone can afford them obviously). Reduces bullying and stuff (by some amount).

For two, no matter how loose your dress code, someone will go too far, and when pointed out, they'll freak out saying its unreasonable or whatever. Having a dress code just eliminates that problem altogether.

People should be going to school to learn, not to try and show off their swag and belly buttons. You can "assert your identity" at home.

That's for the ones who actually have sex with the student, usually consensual albeit it's also statutory rape in many cases.

I hated the idea as a kid, but as an adult Id support it. I went to a snobby high school and some kids were mistreated for how they dressed, so you take that out of the equation then. I personally never insulted anyone because of this, but I judged them in my mind for wearing no-name or shabby clothing.

Not once have I ever seen that happen. A teacher in highschool got fired and jailed for sexual harassing students.

That is not true. I think that Czech Republic is a western country - (Central Europe for you who do not know) and there are NO mandatory school uniforms at least in public schools.
Maybe private schools have some uniforms, but that are private schools and their rules and if I would have kids sometimes, I would not send them to school with mandatory uniforms.

If rich kids want to show "hey, I am rich, and you... haha!!!", they just WILL show it. New uniform at the beginning of school year and the poorer kids will have to wear some used uniform ...
cell phones, tablets...
Parents driving rich kids to the school when other kids have to use school bus... if someone wants to show "I am rich!", they just will show it even with school uniforms.

I am against uniforms in public schools. I do not like uniforms... uniform... all the people are the same and you have to be the same too, one group, one herd... no. Just no. If you like uniforms... well, the army is waiting for you ;-)
