I don't think I ever had a single problem with the wall jumping at all

Of course I've only done that in that stage like twice if you're not using hover in that stage to get 999 Rings what are you even doing

I think the wall jumping may have had to do with being a bird and it triggering the double jump instead. Like after you do the double jump you just can't wall jump.
Also I have to say the double-jumping was about as useless as could be. It didn't even really feel like a second jump, more like an air-stall than anything else.

I feel like movement and level presentation has never gotten better than Unleashed Day. Even Generations seemed like a step back to me.

The 2D Sonic levels really suffer for the Mania comparison. I don't think it's a valid criticism against Forces as a whole, but in terms of 2D Sonic gameplay... yeah.

The 2D felt fine to me. It just doesn't compare to Mania and that makes it stand out more.

I didn't like 2D in Generations much either, but yeah, here it feels kinda pointless. However his only stage I actually dislike is the auto scroller near the end.

The thing I always liked about 3D Sonic was how to do a perfect run of each stage to try to get the fastest time possible

Main reason I prefer 3D Sonic games and don't care about 2D Sonic games (sans Generations)
They have no collectibles, no challenge, it's just a easy "get to the goal" stages

You collect them but in a lot of the games they're not hidden, just have enough rings when you reach a certain spot.
