Silencing the speech of people simply because you disagree with them doesn't scream "hero," it screams "thug" or "fascist." The same partisan hacks who praise this move would be appalled if it happened to Bernie Sanders or one of their leftist heroes.

By Twitters general rules Mr. Trump should have been banned long ago. They said it was an employee that was leaving, but who really knows.

Booting Trump off Twitter - especially with the knowledge that the whole thing would be reversed in hours at the most - is a far cry from silencing someone.

Its pretty funny, but the fact they referred to it as human error is laughable. It was obviously intentional, and very few people would say it was an error in judgment :P

Pretty much this. And, while Twitter suddenly seemed like a sign of world peace for about five or eleven minutes--different sources use either of the two numbers--the end result of a more permanent ban would have been the manchild in chief kicking and screaming; no one in his immediate vicinity would have been safe.

That's the problem with giving so much power to children or like-minded individuals. If you take away their favorite toy, no matter how right you are for it, then you'll be on the receiving end of whatever power the child has.

Actually, we know pretty well. Plus the claims of Trump violating Twitter's rules is complete bullshit and is a propaganda piece by fascists who want to silence the opposition on social media -- and ironically give people like Trump their power since they abuses to point at.

Except it's literally silencing somebody. That's exactly what people who praise the move cite it as, in addition to saying that they wish it was permanent. More importantly, I'm not sure it could be fully reversed. I know that even that night the follower count was messed up and, although it's a lot larger now, I'm not sure it's fully fixed.

Is that really bad poetry or is it supposed to mean something?

The only error in judgment was hiring the ass who did that in the first place.

Except it's literally silencing somebody.

Except it's not because Trump - by dint of being President of the United States - has nearly limitless avenues beyond Twitter to make his voice heard.

This does not, by any stretch of the imagination, constitute "silencing" someone.

Given that it was, you're wrong.

Oh God, not the follower count! Whatever is Trump to do now?! How will we ever know if he has more followers than Justin Bieber?!

Except it's literally still silencing them, which was the intent and is generally understood by everybody except you. The fact that somebody has other avenues changes nothing. Hell, even in countries which forbid public demonstrations, you have "other avenues" for making your opinion known.

They can ban anyone they want for any reason at any time. They just won't because trump and his army of bots generates clicks.

this is why I hate politics. its full of double standards. most people on the left would go apeshit if it happened to a democratic president, while those on the right probably would applaud it if it happened to a democratic president.

off the top of my head just think to those who didn't bat a eye at things showing obama being lynched, but lost their shit over a picture of trump decapitated. and conversely those who lost their shit over the lynched obama depiction but applauded the decapitated trump.
