The fuck are you talking about? Talk of gerrymandering is in the news all the time. Hell, the media has been covering a SCOTUS case involving it. Plus it's always been a problem and it doesn't have much correlation to the subject at hand.

He also admitted to taking part in the GOP platform policy changing on Ukraine. Kind of really big

No piss tapes yet. This stuff is juicier anyway

Who the heck let him testify with no legal representation...

He also congratulated members of the Trump campaign's foreign policy team on July 14 for their "excellent work" on the "Ukraine amendment" - a reference to the Trump campaign's decision to "intervene" to water down a proposed amendment to the GOP's Ukraine platform.

The original amendment proposed that the GOP commit to sending "lethal weapons" to the Ukrainian army to fend off Russian aggression. But it was ultimately altered to say "provide appropriate assistance" before it was included in the party's official platform. The dossier alleges that the campaign "agreed to sideline" the issue of Russia's invasion of Crimea and interference in eastern Ukraine in exchange for dirt on Hillary Clinton.

Page also also revealed that Trump campaign adviser Sam Clovis had asked him to sign a non-disclosure agreement upon joining the campaign - and that he discussed his July Moscow trip with Clovis both before he went and after he returned.

Clovis has come under intense scrutiny over his correspondence with another early Trump foreign policy adviser, George Papadopoulos, who recently pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents about his contact with Russia-linked foreign nationals.

Papadopoulos was told in April by a Kremlin-linked professor that Russia had dirt on Clinton in the form of "thousands" of emails, and he emailed Clovis several times during the election asking to arrange a meeting between then-candidate Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Emails contained in newly unsealed court documents filed by Mueller's office show that Clovis never shot down the idea, at one point even encouraging Papadopoulos to travel to Moscow himself.

Uh oh.. Doubt we'll ever see the pee pee tapes.

WaPo thoroughly ridiculed the Carter Page transcript, which is odd because... well, WaPo.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2017/11/07/the-paranoid-carter-page-transcript-what-in-gods-name-did-i-just-read/

The story is flat-out crazy in general considering that, even when Trump named Carter Page as an advisor, Trump's campaign team claimed that Page had never had contact with Trump

And apparently one of his former employers described Page as "a wackadoodle"

And even leftist alt-news sites like Daily KOs have described Page as "unhinged" and unable to tell a straight story.

So basically you were attributing something to Trump which Trump was never even alleged to have said. Instead, it's a former Kushner employee with a grudge talking smack about Kushner where, if the claim is even true, it would just be Kushner's impressions -- including the impression that Trump didn't really believe the birtherism claims (which was popular speculation anyway)

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41892373

The Trump campaign foreign policy aide's contacts with Russians have already got him in trouble. He has admitted lying to the FBI about them.

But it is now revealed he also met a British Foreign Office official, two months before the US presidential election, for a "working level" meeting.

"As you would expect in the run up to an election we seek to build links with figures in both the Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns," a Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokeswoman told the BBC, confirming the meeting. "This type of outreach is normal diplomatic business."

While such meetings may be routine diplomacy, the fact that Papadopoulos was presenting himself to the government of one of the US's closest allies as a representative of the Trump campaign undercuts the White House's recent assertion that Papadopoulos was a campaign volunteer of little importance.

"It was extremely limited," White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on 30 October, when questioned about Papadopoulos's role in the Trump campaign. "It was a volunteer position. And again, no activity was ever done in an official capacity on behalf of the campaign. He was a volunteer on the campaign."

Mr Trump himself tweeted the following day that "few people knew the young, low level volunteer named George, who has already proven to be a liar".

The White House has not yet responded to inquiries from the BBC for comment on the matter.

We don't know whether Papadopoulos was operating in an official capacity for the Trump campaign or simply presenting himself that way without prior approval. Given that through much of 2016 the Trump team operated on a shoestring budget, with little in the way of traditional campaign hierarchy or structure, the latter is entirely possible.

When it comes down to it, however, the British government apparently treated him with the type of deference due to a top-level political adviser.

Word of the Papadopoulos sit-down in London was first reported by Scott Stedman, a California university student, in a post on the website Medium. He writes that the Trump adviser met "an unidentified, high-ranking member of the UK's department that handles foreign affairs".

According to the indictment papers released by the independent counsel investigation into possible Trump campaign ties to Russia, Papadopoulos was in regular communication with high-level Trump campaign officials during much of 2016.

After being named by Mr Trump as one of his foreign policy advisers on 21 March, Papadopoulos attended a 31 March Washington, DC meeting with the candidate, then-Senator Jeff Sessions (now US attorney general) and other members of Mr Trump's national security team.

In April, per the independent counsel's office, Papadopoulos communicated with a London-based professor, Joseph Mifsud, who introduced him via email to a Russian national with "connection to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs".

Mifsud subsequently informed Papadopoulos that the Russian government had "dirt" on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton through "thousands" of her emails.

Papadopoulos, with the blessing of Trump campaign co-chair Sam Clovis, would later explore the possibility of visiting Russia for an "off the record" meeting with Russian officials. He never did.

It seems, however, he had more success getting a face-to-face sit-down with the British government.

I half-suspect that during a debate Trump was struggling to name a few people he knew from the private sector who knew *anything* about foreign policy and he named him completely off the cuff then was forced to double-down on Carter because the alternative was admitting he was wrong. which would have weakened his position. The sad reality of American politics is that admitting a mistake -- something we should encourage -- is a cardinal sin which immediately disqualifies somebody from office.

Correcting outright lies is hardly a matter of "defending" anybody. Keep in mind that posters here have insisted that Trump said all Mexicans are rapists by default, a claim being no resemblance in the slightest to what he actually said. And that's pretty much been the past several years, where most of the accusations have been Pizzagate-level stuff with anybody who doesn't join into the nonsense loudly enough is accused of defending or supporting Trump

That's not touching on the double-standards. When Trump mentioned having a good relationship with blacks, he was attacked by liberals for saying "black" instead of "African-American" -- charges which were then parroted here. When Bernie mentioned in the middle of a debate how he wanted to get blacks off street corners -- in itself a pretty racist cliche even if you ignore the PC issue -- nobody batted an eye.

Considering the extent of politicians lying, you'd have to consider the public dumb for believing anything they say. After all, anti-gun advocates have been busted for trying to traffic arms to terrorists, family-values legislators have been exposed for attempted gay trysts in men's rooms, anti-sexual assault advocates have been arrested for sexual assault, etc. Not to mention that Hillary Clinton rather publicly confessed to holding public and private stances on issues.

Hey Don. We have an unusual idea, WikiLeaks wrote on October 21, 2016. Leak us one or more of your fathers tax returns. WikiLeaks then laid out three reasons why this would benefit both the Trumps and WikiLeaks. One, The New York Times had already published a fragment of Trumps tax returns on October 1; two, the rest could come out any time through the most biased source (e.g. NYT/MSNBC).

It is the third reason, though, WikiLeaks wrote, that is the real kicker. If we publish them it will dramatically improve the perception of our impartiality, WikiLeaks explained. That means that the vast amount of stuff that we are publishing on Clinton will have much higher impact, because it wont be perceived as coming from a pro-Trump pro-Russia source. It then provided an email address and link where the Trump campaign could send the tax returns, and adds, The same for any other negative stuff (documents, recordings) that you think has a decent chance of coming out. Let us put it out.

Trump Jr. did not respond to this message.

WikiLeaks didnt write again until Election Day, November 8, 2016. Hi Don if your father loses we think it is much more interesting if he DOES NOT conceed [sic] and spends time CHALLENGING the media and other types of rigging that occurredas he has implied that he might do, WikiLeaks wrote at 6:35pm, when the idea that Clinton would win was still the prevailing conventional wisdom. (As late as 7:00pm that night, FiveThirtyEight, a trusted prognosticator of the election, gave Clinton a 71 percent chance of winning the presidency.) WikiLeaks insisted that contesting the election results would be good for Trumps rumored plans to start a media network should he lose the presidency. The discussion can be transformative as it exposes media corruption, primary corruption, PAC corruption, etc., WikiLeaks wrote.

Shortly after midnight that day, when it was clear that Trump had beaten all expectations and won the presidency, WikiLeaks sent him a simple message: Wow.

I remember Maddow leaking that one lone tax return portion. Was it leaked to wikileaks by the administration and then to her? who knows. but all interesting.

Which is completely unfounded supposition and, considering that Trump's tax docs never came out, you're engaging in Alex Jones-level conspiracy nonsense.

More generally, the US government has consistently hated Wikileaks and has gone out its way to stygmy if not outright destroy it. While you continually disparage it, Wikileaks is one of the LAST great bastions of journalistic freedom. Keep in mind that US media tends to alternate between being an establishment henchman (such as in the Iraq war, where they copy/pasted fictitious war-crimes without even investigating the source of the allegations -- which turned to be a diplomat's daughter whose account couldn't be verified) and a trained puppy (which is why Edward Snowden had to go to the Guardian, a British publication). The American people NEED Wikileaks, which the US government is hellbent on shutting down because it exposes the government's lies.

The White House said in a statement Tuesday that President Donald Trump had paid $38 million in taxes on income of more than $150 million for 2005.

That revelation came in response to Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter David Cay Johnston reportedly obtaining documents from Trump's 2005 federal tax returns, and exclusively sharing those findings Tuesday evening with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

I remember the Maddow non-story, but it was hardly the first time this election that somebody got their hands on an old tax return.

Speaking of, leftist propaganda machine John Oliver brought up Trump's tax returns again in yet another near-30-minute attack ad. It's like a Super-PAC that makes money instead of paying out for it, a great investment on the part of Hillary's friends at Time-Warner who own HBO.

Otherwise, in general it's silly that you keep pointing out to all of these direct communications which Wikileaks kept making THROUGH TWITTER and then claim, "Oh, but Junior was responding by emails or phone calls!", when all logic would suggest that, if another avenue was being used, Wikileaks would stop doing it through Twitter.

WikiLeaks was sending anonymous Dropbox links for the administration to share information. No reply was necessary through email or Twitter to communicate exactly what was asked for. You can just upload a document with the information and further communication. All Jr. Needed to receive was the link. It's not a difficult concept.

Which is still an illogical way to transmit the information instead of just sticking with one dropbox or something similar.

I'm not sure if there were multiple dropboxes, or a lone box, or what. The number of dropboxes WikiLeaks provided is not the focus or what's important.

WikiLeaks requested the information directly and offered to leak it that way. They provided the means to do so. The leaked returns were client copies, something very few people would have had access to at any point in time outside of the Trump family. I'm not saying POTUS leaked it, his son though? He'd have access to those client copies and had ample time to pick the most favorable return to leak. with nothing else showing up after all these months I'm doubtful that it was an outsider.

Whats crazy is if they get away with it.

Someone captured my thoughts completely when they questioned Sessions this past week. Asking him why its okay for him to perjure himself on 3 separate occasions and never correct himself until AFTER it was found out that he lied but... but... but he completely fucked over a police officer who lied once, AND corrected his testimony BEFORE anyone found out about his initial mess up. What did Sessions do to that officer? Had him fired AND charged.
