The amount of okay is directly proportional to the amount of hotness in all cases.

Second cousins share approximately 3.125% of genes due to interbreeding. Random strangers are expected to share about 5% of genes, so second cousins aren't going to be any more genetically similar to you than a random stranger would be. Smash away.

How many people know all their second cousins, anyway? Like I could go out with a second cousin without having any idea we were related.

Either parent is still a cousin of one of your parents, that's still awkwardly close.

3% and 5% of what? I had heard we share 99.9% of DNA. That's why we all have pretty similar hair, thumbs, and tails.

Genetically it is nothing wrong with first cousins, unless you start doing it for 2-3 generations in a row.

Unless you grew up with them or something, at which point it'd seem strange. However, legally you can marry your first-cousin across most of the country, including in New England. So it just comes down to whether you're willing to deal with the stigma.

I think he's talking basic chromosome mixes or whatever. Idk how accurate it is

Of that remaining 0.1%, which is still quite a lot of DNA given that it accounts for all the variation between all humans. By the nature of sexual reproduction, half of your genes come from each parent, so parents and full siblings are 50% genetically similar. Each step out you take reduces that by a further half, so by the time you get to second cousins, you're at 3.125%.
