So what's the problem? My insurance doesn't cover condoms so why should it cover birth control?

Are we just going to keep throwing free shit at women that's not a necessity?

It just cracks me up you people don't understand it's not the governments job to tell insurance companies what they can and can't offer in their packages.

Let the free market do it's job.

Also any real job has tiers of insurance so if you want better insurance you pay for it. Also you always have the option to opt out of insurance and pay your penalty thanks to obama.

If insurance companies lose enough business because their plan sucks they will be forced to make a better plan.

It's not the governments job to make insurance companies provide birth control.

Get over it. YOU HAVE NO ARGUMENT.

Facts don't care about your feelings.

Come on since you guys are so smart.

What's your position? Defend it.

Meh i still think it's dumb for insurance companies to get involved in a woman's sex life by offering them BC, but it does serve other purposes as well so i guess it's ok.

forcing women to go to a different insurance company instead of through work just to get birth control is getting more involved with women's sex lives than just letting it be covered

many places take issue when a female employee has to go on pregnancy leave. places like this should consider birth control coverage if they want to minimize that.

but counter productivity seems to be the theme of 2017. dissonance of 2016 ushered that in, lol.

Yes. Now why is anyone entitled to it such that the government should force companies/insurance to provide it?

People don't have to go on pregnancy leave if they aren't getting pregnant. Also, birth control has other uses besides prevention. "But muh holy book says no sex outside of marriage or for reasons besides procreation!" Well your business doesn't have fucking religious beliefs.

No. I'm asking why it's right to use the government to require companies to cover certain things in their insurance. No issue at all with companies providing insurance (and specifically insurance that covers birth control), I'm against them being forced to do so.

So this is one of the few things I don't see much of an issue with, but if I'm missing anything/incorrect anywhere, please let me know.

I'm in favor of providing aid to women in the area of feminine hygiene products, as that's something that cannot be controlled and I can see how that can be seen as an unfair financial burden to women.

But birth control is a different story. I do think insurance companies should differentiate between a doctor prescribing it for a health-related reason versus simply contraception, but I don't see why female contraception should be mandated to be covered. I have to buy condoms when I want them (women can buy them too!), what makes birth control any different?

Again, if there's anything I'm misunderstanding, please inform me.

The condom comparison needs to stop lol. If you want to use condoms as a reason why then I can flip that argument and say shes getting birth control...it better benefits both parties involved in intercourse.

Of all the things he's done (done, not said), this is by far the dumbest. There's SO MUCH evidence that easy access to birth control has significant positive effects on society, including reduction in crime. Hopefully, since it only eases the restrictions on opting-out and doesn't completely remove it from healthcare, most companies will stay the sensible path and keep offering it.

I also said that I would like to see insurance companies make a distinction between it being prescribed for medical reasons versus solely contraception. Unfortunately, that's not the case right now, and the lion's share of women getting birth control are getting it for the sake of contraception. I wouldn't say I'm against having insurance companies forced to include birth control necessarily, but I'm also not in favor of it.
