I watched a pretty disturbing video about "bride kidnapping" in Kyrgyzstan today, so definitely not there.

Voted Pakistan for Lake Saiful Muluk and Badshahi Mosque. I'm not religious by any means but do love the architecture of some buildings.

Eh, you're not a woman so you'll be fine. Unless you are a woman, at which point you won't want to go there.

Kazakhstan, solely because it seems orderly and safe due to it still being heavily invested in by Russia.

I was born in Kyrgyzstan, and it's the only country in Central Asia to have a functioning democracy, as sad as that is.

The geography there is beautiful, it is the best place to visit for wild snow leapards in the world. The mountains are relatively untouched (over 90% of the country is mountainous too) and a lot of scenic mountain lakes are located there.

Unfortunately the rural areas are very backwards socially, if you travel alone you have a rather high chance of being mugged.

This is one of those things that happens in rural areas. It's less common nowadays from what I've heard (I don't live there anymore) but it still occurs.
