And what was your primary emotion on 9/11? Shock? I know mine's was. Can you believe it it's been 16 yrs since 9/11 today? And in your opinion were most of the terrorists "insane?"

Was a freshman in high school. Definitely felt shock.

About 4 years ago my dad got remarried to a woman who lost her first husband on 9/11. He was on the second plane. I can't imagine how frustrating it would have been or STILL is. Who the knows what kinda terrifying shit went on in that plane before it hit

I stayed home from school because I was sick. I remember waking up and asking my dad why he didn't go to work, and he told me planes crashed into the world trade center and the pentagon.

I didn't learn about it until 3 days after because the group home I was in at the time didn't want to "hurt us".

I was ultimately indifferent.

Just finished college...at my Mom's house.

Seen it on TV; thought it was some kinda Hollywood/TV stunt or something.

Also, my Bro was in NYC at the time; got very worried.

It was grade 10, I didn't really understand why a plane would crash into a building. Then the next one hit. Classes carted televisions inside and the news was on for most of the day. I lived near an airport and the silence from grounded flights was eerie. The whole day was pretty surreal.

I was at work. A girl came up and told told me about the first plane and I thought she had to be mistaken. It was just so surreal. Then the second hit and I thought it was terrorism.

A coworker was in tears because her husband was a pilot and she didn't know where he was.

We just had a TV on in the work room and we were told we could take it easy that day. Work was secondary.

It is still weird to me to see the skyline without those buildings.

School. I heard about the first plane during a study hall back when they thought it was still an accident. Then I heard about the second one and, well, it clearly wasn't an accident. Given that I was in the tri-state area, I was wondering if anybody I knew might be affected.

I was in high school. Honestly, all the teachers were just watching news footage of the disaster and when I noticed that I just slept through a class then skipped for the rest of the day.

4th grade. Woke up to my mom on the phone with my aunt or grandma or something. Watched the second plane hit live. First tower collapsed as I was just about to walk to school. Second tower collapsed as I was walking to school.

All morning we just watched the news. My teacher was shaken. He said our lives would never be the same. I guess he was right.

I remember being worried that I'd be sent to war even though I was 9 years old and not an American.
