Gilgamesh was middling in his first three appearances, but then he had a streak of seven straight top 25s that eventually culminated in the closest finals victory ever over Vivi in CXI. He's fallen back to the pack a bit since then. Gilgamesh has just barely made two top 25s since then while finishing in the bottom half four of the last eight contests. While I doubt he's in serious danger of being booted for the first time, this is the closest he's ever come to it. With this finish, Gilgamesh drops from 64.57% to 62.37%, falling from 21st place to 26th place, just narrowly behind Faris, meaning he's no longer the highest ranked FFV character in the STATS.

The New Era hasn't been so kind to Gilgamesh since half of his finishes are in the bottom half. There, he slides from 56.51% to 51.26%, dipping from 34th place to 42nd place, between Delita and Quistis.

With the completion of the boot rounds, FFIV, FFVII, FFIX, and FFXII were the games with multiple entrants that did not lose anybody to boots this year.

Well, we had games with fewer than that lose characters, and part of the reason IV and XII have so few this year is because they got wrecked by boots last year, so it's an improvement!

I don't even know who beyond Snake really likes Red Mage at this point, or why I even care about him in an odd way. With Steiner's mission completed I just kind of save out of habit. I'd have to think who my actual, literal favorite character is. Probably Ramza, Tidus, or Squall I guess.

VeryInsane's Very Insane Top 10 of what is currently left

1) Ramza Beoulve the man the dream and a true hero who deserves a good run and possibly win (FFT needs one!)

2) Wiegraf Folles - One of the GOAT Tragic Villains. It sucks that you have to cross paths with this guy who is trying to seek what is right for the kingdom but what can you do

3) Cecil Harvey - I supported this guy last year and if he actually had a good shot of winning (the only person he would ever beat in a finals at this point is like Lightning or Eiko let's be honest) I would probably main him again. FF4 was my first ever FF and he is a great hero who recognizes that what he initially believes in is false and wishes to atone for his problems.

4) Cid Highwind and

5) Barret Wallace - Basically interchangeable but both excellent party members and have really interesting subplots within FF7.

6) Laguna Loire - The Man With The Machine Gun is a damn good theme. Wish I had Kiros and Ward so I could push all 3 for flavor

7) Sabin Figaro - The Guy Suplex'd a train and lifts a building which is on fire by himself. Total Bro Should definitely get more saves.

8) Ashe - I remember her being pretty interesting though my FFXII memory is hazy apart from Balthier basically being Han Solo lite. Maybe it's time for a Zodiac playthrough and I should just give up on FFX postgame? If so maybe I'll bump her up.

9) Oerba Dia Vanille - Redirect XIII crowd into supporting good characters. Easily the most interesting character in the game with a pretty troubling backstory.

10) Maechen - He's a pretty good atomic bomb cop.

Not a totally defined order as that'd be pretty difficult. Only a couple of these I am not truly familiar with, so I based their placement mostly on design. The three at the bottom I don't feel are FF characters so ignore the "dislike" part, Eiko is the actual worst character in currently. I don't truly hate many characters in Final Fantasy.
