Board 8 > Day 6: 10 Samurai vs 20 Velociraptors

Day 1: 12 Wolves barely beat 2 Tigers with 51.67% of the vote. (60 votes)
Day 2: 25 Giraffes smacked the crap out of 12 Wolves with 59.46% of the vote. (37 votes)
Day 3: 1 Elephant went all out Ganesh on 25 lanky Giraffes with 52.70% of the vote. (74 votes)
Day 4: 10 Samurai went all elephant soku zan on 1 poor elephant with 78.95% of the vote. (76 votes)
Day 5: 10 Samurai were pissed they weren't nominated and destroyed all members of this year's UOTY with 72.86% of the vote. (70 votes)


These battles take place in about a 2 acre sized dome. Completely flat terrain.

The Samurai have no protective armor but they are all adept swordsmen and each have one traditional Japanese Katana.

The Velocripators are Velociraptors.

some more interesting notes on why this is a one-sided stomp

the raptor claw is actually pretty dull and lacks the sharp cutting edge needed to even effectively slash. the current belief is that raptors hunted by pouncing on their prey, pinning them down, and using their body weight to hold them in place while feeding.

considering these are much smaller and weigh much less than the samurai their typical fighting style is not going to work here. and since their claws are not actually suited to slashing or cutting they won't be dealing much damage even if they do try to fight in a more conventional way.

the samurai are also going to have a longer reach with the katana. even with a 2 vs 1 advantage the raptors really have no chance.

depends on what you want.

a poll is a great way to get large number of thoughtless responses. lack of a poll is a good way to get more detailed and well thought out responses but you're also likely to get far less.

Same reasons as last time. More range, more endurance, better coordination. Next one should be Pokemon or something so we can have a challenge. Like, Raikou, Suicune, and Entei.

For those saying "But real raptors were the size of turkeys," are you also accounting for the normal height/weight of real samurai? You've got 2-3 foot tall raptors, sure... But they're against slim men only reaching about 5'3" in height. It doesn't take much to knock down a sub-100 pound, 5 foot guy. A 30 pound raptor ought to do it.

I'm going to table the idea for now, but I'm not throwing it away. I have an idea that might remedy party of the problem soon. I'm also hoping has the series goes on, more people will think more cautiously before they vote.
