But overall, there aren't many standout Pokemon I really like from the early gens. I think my opinion is a little biased toward how fun they are to play with, though. Making a Gen 2 only team in G/S/C leaves you with few good options for in game. A lot of good Pokemon are post Pokemon League (for instance, you can't get Houndoom until Kanto in Crystal), so making a fun in game team is terrible. Edit: I haven't played Gen 6 or 7. Unfortunately unless it gets some egg moves as an event(as it's likely not breedable) it'll likely not be very good since it loses access to moves like sucker punch or an elemental fang. But anyways, small callbacks like that are nice and core fans who have been with the entire series can appreciate minor details like that.
