That you want the reward without solving the puzzle is your problem, not the game's.

50 resets between mage attemps is not a "puzzle". It does not require skill. It's nothing more than a check on the player base's social life and a check on whether or not people will defend idiotic gameplay design.

Blizzard has not made a good single player game since Diablo 2, and that will never change thanks to Activision's influence.

I don't think he does anything while the sword is out, just clears minions and punches you.

The one game I actually had the full combo in hand at the start of turn seven and auto-played Doomsayer to wipe the 2/6 board, because that was what I always did on turn seven. Someone who took the time to think things through and wasn't an idiot would have recognized the 100% guaranteed win. I had to play another hour after that before I won.

You don't have to play the Counterspell deck. I was running an elemental/heal deck for a bit that would have probably won a whole hell of a lot sooner and without the mulligan shenanigans if I had Geddon.

Finished Mage, I was an idiot. I'm used to running Quest Mage so I naturally had Arcanologist in my deck. Problem was I only had a single Counterspell that I was hard mulliganing for so they were just vanilla 2/3s. Removed them from the deck, added an Ice Barrier and Duplicate in and won on my first go when I Duplicated Antonidas after the Obliterate.

Deck would clearly be better just removing Duplicate for the second Counterspell straight up.

I used that and just ran 2 counterspell 2 simulacrum. Worked in one shot once I got the counterspell to go off.

Yeah if you can find a way to hold him at a single 2/6 for awhile you can get a lot done.

I still can't beat him with warrior though. Currently trying alarmobot shenanigans. I still need good luck to win though so it hasn't happened yet.

I mean, Ulti did do the TrueCalc SCC in FFT. I think he's earned the right to call out design that requires 50 resets.

Shaman is done. It's literally the meta deck minus 2 thing from below plus 1 hex 1 devolve. Eventually got lucky with annihilating the dude.

If you're playing as Mage, the boss resets your HP to one on his first turn. The 50 resets is talking about hard mulliganing for Kabal Lackey and Counterspell in your opening hand to counter that spell. I only have one Counterspell and I still got both of them in my opening hand every 20 games or so, I imagine if I had two it would have been about half of that.

You can just play a different deck if you want, but this way makes sure you don't have to deal with having one HP on your second turn and having to heal/survive until you can somehow stabilize. Elemental Mage with a bunch of heal techs would work.

I have gotten to needing 1 win before rank 6 at least 5 times now, and I have lost each time. Including a damn paladin eye for an eye draw! (granted I knew what secret he had, but I had to settle for a draw rather than a loss due to being at 1 health). Just really frustrating.

Eh, why not.

The Draft: I am so damn tired of drafting servant of kalimos. FUCK. THE. SYNERGY. POOL. Got King Mukla early on in the draft which was cool, too. Although I hate the idea of giving my opponent bananas and he's really not that overstated. Feels like I'm just setting my enemy up for favorable trades later. I got two Bonemares. Ended up with more of a plateau than a curve. Tons of value cards and heavy late game. Some really good removal tools too for early, mid, and late games. Lack of board clears is going to be a problem since I don't have a strong early or mid game board presence. We'll see how control warlock works out in arena. This is my highest tier score deck so far but I do worry about the lack of 2 and 3 drops. Once again I just was not offered very many, so it's not like this was my fault or anything. I was only offered two 2 drops and I took both of them.

Game 1: Vs Hunter. I went First. As one might expect with this deck, I did not get much early game cards. Hunter is a really bad match up for Warlock, too. Managed to make a solid turn 3 and turn 4 play, however. And I did get a good starting card advantage because of my slow opener and warlock hero power. Mulka on 5 with Drain Life. Kabal Trafficker on Turn 6. I'm in a favorable position from here. Bonemare on Mulka to protect the Trafficker. He concedes. Win.

Man I like to joke about curvestone and face is the place but you really cannot put a price on having some amazing high quality mid game cards to simply dominate the board and make it impossible for your opponent to come back. It didn't even matter that I had no opening play, because my midgame was so overwhelming.

Game 2: Vs Rogue. I went Second. Had a few decent cards that I might play early on, or hold them for later situationally. Obsidian Shard locks down my board to some extent but I'm not really trying to fight for the board anyway. I throw down Tar Lurker to stall the game. Didn't really work all that well honestly. My card quality was higher but he just tempo'd me out hard and forced me to make a lot of awkward plays. Honestly there were so many times when I had an answer in my hand then he did something to make it not work that it almost felt like he could somehow see my hand. Loss.

Game 3: Vs Mage. I went Second. Winning a control game against mage is going to be hard since it entirely depends on whether or not he was lucky enough to draft more broken cards than me. Thought you could win against Mage in arena? Think again. Loss.

Game 4: Vs Druid. I went Second. Manage to curve out pretty well on my low end, which is a good sign for this deck. I always have the mid and late game to back it up because of the way my curve is set up. Despicable Dreadlord on 5 to an opponent's empty board. Love this because it sets me up to always have a favorably DD set up whenever I want one. Plus if he knows that I only need [health-1] attack power to kill anything that he plays, it severely limits his options. Making your opponents turn awkward is a great way to get ahead in arena. This strategy works pretty well and carries me through the midgame in a fully dominant position. Siphon Soul on his last big taunt for lethal. Win.

Game 5: Vs Druid. I went First. Had a fairly strong opener. Played Mukla on 3 again, and Dreadlord in hand before 5. Aw yeah. And when going first that means I was really driving the tempo. Playing him on 5 ended up being pretty awkward but I did bait a lot of removal before playing DD on 7 on an empty board. I go all in on DD, dropping Bonemare on him for a buff, and then push for lethal. It works. Win.

Game 6: Vs Paladin. I went Second. Uh oh. He had Emerald Hive Queen on 1 and I had nothing to answer it. Always annoying. Coined out Darkshire Councilman to try and fight for the board. He also has Sword of Justice. I swear over half the paladins I've faced in arena lately have this card. Was in completely dominant position the entire game then got wrecked by Avenging Wrath. Oh well. Loss.

Final Result: 3-3

What a rough arena, went 3-3. Half of my deck cost three or less and yet two of my games I didn't have a play until turn four. Well, I had a Hunters Mark in one of them but nothing to use it with.

One of those two games was the last one, where my opponent had this set of plays.

Warrior - 100~ tries
Druid - 2 tries
Mage - 5~ resets, 1 actual try

I would have beat druid on my first try if i knew what the cheat card did.

I beat mage on my first counterspell attempt which took about 5 reset.




4 down, 5 to go.

I know the Hunter cheat card so that should be easy enough, but i still don't know what rogue, warlock, paladin or shaman have in store.

Face Hunter isn't working against Lich King for me, he just starts putting too many taunts down and once the Sword Horde comes down and I have to Doomsayer to counter it I'm out of steam. Is it just going to come down to me drawing good and Lich King not having any taunts to stop face or is there a better Hunter setup I'm not aware of?

Hunter mulligan wars were worse than the Mage Counterlackey wars. Had to mulligan for Alleycat and Scavenging Hyena by turn two, and had to make sure Lich King didn't coin out the 2/3 on turn one or my deck stood no chance. Play the Alleycat on turn one, he freezes it, and I topdeck the Hyena and trade the unfrozen cat. Happens once every dozen games or so.

I don't remember what happened from turn to turn, but I played a Bear Trap that saved my Hyena from death. I played UtH to clear his board and save the Hyena from damage. I used Explosive Shot to kill a Sludge Belcher and another minion and traded an injured Mad Scientist into the mini Belcher to get a secret. And then on turn 6, at 16 life and facing down a 18/10 Hyena he finally gets Obliterate, but my Secret was Cat Trick.



Fuck Hunter vs Lich King. I literally had to topdeck the perfect card every single turn and still only won because he didn't have the 2/3 on turn one, never played Saronite Chain Gang, never played the spell that buffs his entire board and didn't have Obliterate until the the very end. Forget being mentally drained, I am physically worn out.

I really hope Hunter was the hardest...
