The Aladdin sequels are the only Disney sequels worth watching tbh.

Still nowhere near as good as the original, but they're not bad films.

All other Disney sequels are pretty much shit though.

Some people also like Lion King 2 but I personally hated it.

Lion King 1 1/2 was fun though.

That bizarre Beauty and the Beast Christmas special might be worth it just because you have Tim Curry playing a massive pipe organ who, in fact, prefers being an immortal pipe organ and would rather not break the curse. It's kind of hilarious because the entire movie is meant to take place during the events of Beauty and Beast. So just imagine that halfway through the original film, Belle and Beast take a moment to celebrate Christmas and defeat a giant pipe organ that tries to tear the castle down.

Another comment about summons: In general they are a lot less useful than in KH1. However, I doubt you used summons often in KH1 anyway lol.

They are pretty fun though, aside from the first one you get.

Oh right. I forgot there were summons in 2 besides Genie and Chicken Little. God, summons were so shit in 2.

Stitch was fantastic in the colosseum, blocking attacks for you and his limit making it rain orbs.

Yup.

You can either play the DS game or just watch the movie. Either way, the main plot is there, but the movie doesn't take 40+ hours of clicking through textboxes and hand cramps from the DS's D-pad.

You should absolutely actually play Days if you have the ability to.

On the Final Mixes on the consoles it's just the cinematics, but if you have a DS or 3DS and can get ahold of a copy of Days, I highly recommend actually playing it.

It's my second favorite in the series, after the original.

The thing I probably like the least about Days is how OP magic is.

I feel like they made it so powerful so that you can take out enemies quickly with magic without having to deal with the controls too much. But idk, eventually the optimal way to get through almost everything is to spam magic tailored toward the mission/world.

it's gameplay is likely the WORST of all of them though (maybe better than coded? I never played coded).

Dude what, the gameplay's fantastic.

Literally the only flaw is that some of the missions can get a little repetitive, but there's usually enough new stuff mixed in to keep it interesting, or new parts of the worlds open up.

Like, watch the movie if you have no other choice, but you should definitely try to play the game if you can, or at least give it a shot.

its the best story because it doesnt fill it all up with nonsense Disney worlds that don't affect the overarching plot. its about Roxas, Axel, and Xion, and it's a pure character story. A fucking sad one, at that.

The story in 358/2 Days is up there with MGS3, Crisis Core, Silent Hill 2, FFX and TWD Season 1 (TellTale) for saddest games ever.

I love the customization in Days, which is a big factor for me. Also, while the missions could get repetitive, there was still a decent variation in mission types. I loved the Recon missions personally.

I agree with Days having the best writing in the series. The character development is great all around and made me like characters that I didn't give a shit about before.

On the other hand, the writing (and most of the plot) of BbS is just awful. They don't talk like normal people half the time, and the acting was beyond bad in some scenes.

exactly. It made Roxas go from "meh" to one of my fav characters. everything makes sense after that game.

I had this thought where I'd like them to put a little added "what-if" mission where Roxas instead of losing, beats Riku and goes and tears shit up in Org. XIII HQ after learning what the deal with Xion was. Imagine the rage while he fucks up Xemnas, Saïx and co.

While a "what-if mission might have been cool, as far as the actual ending goes, the tragicness of it all, with Roxas ultimately being powerless to do anything about his friend, and how that's mirrored with Axel's despair at losing his best friend.

Shit's brutal man.

Just read the entire thread up to this point. Glad you're liking the series, TC. It's my favorite game franchise. I have many, many issues with it, but love it all the same.

I see you happen to be playing 2 (Final Mix version at that), my personal favorite KH game, and game of all time. The combat touches up on many aspects from KH1 and improves them. It all feels so refined, and arguably the peak of the series in terms of gameplay.

The game can be pretty button mashy, but you also have the choice to utilize your other options, and I love that the game freely gives you that choice. No bosses that makes you use just magic or solely summons for forced variety.

The way magic works this game, and how you can integrate them into your combos was a fun twist to the system. What I enjoy most about it is how versatile everything at your disposal is.

Early summons like Chicken Little work great as a pocket magnet and crowd controller; and, even when you get the actual spell later, has his niche use for ground fire combos since the magnet spell you get is fine tuned for aerial combat. Later summons like Stitch is a near dumpster of ethers, allowing you to go at it with magnet+thunder combos as well as blocking attacks and stunning enemies (much like Chicken Little) - although he's not 100% with giving you MP, so be careful if you're spamming tons of magic. Peter Pan helps you with follow up melee attacks during your combos - and can break/stunlock particular bosses due to its nature - along with having the added benefit of reviving you if you die.

The flow of combat is near seamless. Combo modifiers like upper slash and finishing to transition to air combos feel so good. This is further highlighted with forms as they offer all new combo sets separate from your normal form, and all implemented to be tailored toward how you want to play. Some physical oriented, some magic based, a couple that are mixed. Subtle changes like Master Form leaping around when performing thunder combos, for a wider range of area of effect, augment your moveset to various degrees. Even forms that are considered bad like Valor or Anti have their quirks. Forms such as Wisdom really shine in secret bosses, particularly Data Demyx.

Even the little things like accessories and abilities attached to the Keyblades add to the versatility of the gameplay.

The Final Mix addition just improves 2 further with a new form, a new area that's more akin to KH1 in terms of exploration, additional secret bosses, and much more. It's the most robust bonus content/postgame I've played in a KH game.

I remember that being a good spot too. Soon as you enter the cave you just blow up some barrels with fire, then you just exit and repeat, taking advantage of the nearby save point to refill your drive gauge.

The best place I know to farm Master Form/Summon levels is in the black and white miniature town area, at least in Vanilla. Idk how far that is into the game so I don't want to say too much.

Anyway, you guys were talking about Days a bit ago. To me, I enjoyed the gameplay of Days in the end - but I didn't really enjoy it until I realized that magic spam was the optimal way to kill everything.

The grid system was really fun to tinker with imo, and it gave a good sense of progression without getting to complicated, but having more depth than simply stat level ups.

I still think Re:coded is far superior in gameplay - and is genuinely (and surprisingly) close to BBS in quality imo. I could actually bother with that bonus 100 floor data dungeon just because I enjoyed the battle/progression system enough.
