Sonic Mania beated with all emeralds and with Knuckles. On the Knux playthrough I got all emeralds by zone 8, so the last few zones just flew by.

Only 18/32 medals, but I'vehad enough of Blue Sphere.

Very hyped for Forces. Always prefered Modern Sonic in Generations.

Oh hey, I just finished a Knuckles playthrough myself and managed to get all the Chaos Emeralds as well! Finished with 32 lives from a single playthrough, which is pretty good, I think! He doesn't get to face the true last boss like Sonic, huh. Kinda lame. It'd be nice if they gave him some unique last boss like he had in S3&K, at least. Oh well.

Anyway, I think that's enough Sonic Mania for me for now. Not much more for me to do, but I'm sure I'll be back to play it again at some point. Really fun game.

Anyway, I've still been getting in a little Persona 5 playing time along the way. Just finished Kaneshiro's Palace. I really dig the music here, both themes. I'm also a little disappointed Snrkoto was only a one-time thing. Could've been another resemblance to Yukiko!

All right, I'm on Chapter 6 of Diabolical Box. And surprise! Fake Flora has been revealed to be Don Paolo all along! Which means the real Flora got left behind in Dropstone. Lame. Speaking of lame, in his getaway from Chelmey, Paolo left the Elysian Box behind. Turns out Mr. Beluga is a son of the former duke who left home but decided to come back when it meant he could get rich, which the people of Folsense don't appreciate. Layton and Luke open the box to find...absolutely nothing. Also, it seems that Don Paolo didn't kill Dr. Schrader to get the box but rather he was already dead or unconscious when he stole it, so that's still up in the air.

I'm guessing this journal was written by Beluga's brother and the woman he talks about in his entries is probably Katia's grandmother. Katia herself still won't tell us anything about why she wants to find the Elysian Box, but that's probably a solid guess. Also, I'm not sure if the duke and the vampire are the same person here, but it doesn't seem like Beluga's brother is the current duke, even though it feels like he should be (unless he's dead, I guess). More mysteries yet to be solved!

all i know is i had a dream where i had an extended argument with noted topic regular JEFF ZERO (and possibly others it was on the board after all) about the xeno series... but i can't remember what about exactly to see if it was actually plausible

the closest thing to a detail i recall was something about arguing that xenosaga was unappreciated and black sheep status meant we were never gonna get the TRUE vision of the xeno series or something

i dunno it was weird and that sounds less accurate now that i typed it out

I stopped remembering any of my dreams years ago

but I still remember a handful of dreams I had when I was a kid or a teenager including one that was a whacked out version of FFVII

Also speaking of dreams, one of the class questions in Persona 5 blew my mind. The fact that people used to dream in black and white until the advent of color TV is kinda crazy but really interesting.

Are you going to try playing P3 and P4 at some point? They'll feel a little outdated, but they're still very cool games. And P3P can technically be played on PC if you don't have a PS2/3/P/V. Same with P4 Vanilla. Probably not P4G, unofrtunately.

I was at like 96% before finishing the game!

All I have left is some of the multi part fusions and Satanael and since I maxed all my confidants already I don't have to unlock the top tiers again.

The only reason I didn't get everything minus the NG+ exclusive Persona in the first playthrough is because I ran out of money.

Well, you're going to need a lot of money just to summon all the Personas you need from the Compendium in addition to that.

Pretty sure you're going to have to wait for Igor to expand the number of Personas you can hold at least once, too.

I'll also be glad when September gets here because football season will be in full force and the Tony Kornheiser Show will come back from hiatus. I used to love summer as a kid because of no school and I loved baseball because the Braves were always good when I was growing up. Now summer is less fun because I don't get any breaks from work, all the good sports shows and podcasts go on hiatus for at least a couple weeks, and the Braves suck now, so baseball isn't fun to watch anymore.

Rean/Alisa is the preferred option among those two, but both of them pale in comparison to a host of other options that are out there.

Fie or Emma are better options amongst the party members? I'm definitely coming from a "Who compliments Rean the best" aspect as opposed to who is Best Girl.

From my Trails of Cold Steel playthrough topic:

Class VII has all of the best girls (Alisa, Fie, Laura), but I don't actually ship Rean with any of them. I'd much rather see Rean end up with either Towa or Elise. Something about the group dynamic makes it not feel right for Rean to enter into a relationship with someone from within Class VII. I really don't know why.

I will also mention there are probably two candidates aside from the ones I mention here which skyrocketed in quality at a later point in the game.

If you're me then you see the checkpoint and attempt to jump to the train early, resulting in you falling to your death

Oil Ocean though... coin drain with death upon zero coins is not a fun thing to pair up with the "lose all of your coins from a single hit" mechanic! I actually only died once to that, but then I game-over'd to the giant octopus because the oil makes it much easier to lose all of your coins :(

Yeah, the Oil Ocean Act 2 boss is probably the toughest one in the game. You mostly have to play it safe and not be too aggressive since you're almost guaranteed to lose all your rings and not be able to get them back if you get hit.

This is correct. Only the generation that grew up on B&W TVs dreams predominantly in black and white.

As for your question: Alisa, by far. In a "man this is too much political/worldbuilding detail/drama for even Trails/Falcom, I think the prospect of the Reinford Company becoming tied into the nobility and the implications thereof could be a fascinating wrinkle in their relationship/how others react to it. Also Alisa is just great and I like their scenes together.
