http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/344176-graham-writing-bill-to-stop-trump-from-firing-special-counsel

Sen.Lindsey Graham(R–S.C.) said Thursday that he is writing a bill that will limit President Trump'sability to fire the special counsel investigating Russian election meddling.

Graham said his bill, which he will introduce next week, will block apresident from firing the special counsel without a federal judge’s approval if that counsel is investigating the president or his administration, according toThe Wall Street Journal.

The South Carolina Republican has a Democratic cowriter on the legislation in Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.), who said on MSNBC earlier this week that he had "concerns" about Trump attempting to oust Robert Mueller.

I think it's good to codify soft norms into actual laws, but i am doubtful that even if Trump blatantly breaks a law he'll be punished in any way. This is a good step, but it will still rely on republicans putting country before party.

Between this and trying to legalize pot nationwide, Cory Booker's getting some good press lately. I think there was some pharmacy drama recently with him, but right now he has some perks too. I figure his pros and cons will be revisited a lot come 2020 if he decides to run for President.

I've lived in the US my entire life. I've never seen either the second or third thing, and I see the first one only occasionally (typically when I'm out of state).

I voted for Hillary, and have many problems with Booker.

He's a corporate democrat who supports privatization of schools. In fact he had previously worked with Betsy DeVos, who everyone hates for education secretary. Yeah, he voted against her--but he's not so far from her either.

I'm not familiar with the term, but we definitely have a few in my city in california. They are small drive-thru only coffee shops where the baristas are apparently required to wear bikinis. I've never been to either (I hate coffee and even if I didn't I wouldn't want to pay more just to have it served to me by a woman in a bikini), but they certainly exist.

Because as a reporter she'd need permission from the institution

Technically, she can be "on" the campus, but she can't... Report.

And since the smear article was extremely nasty, the college told her she can't

So she tried to

And was rejected

So now she's just lying about the program

Hes got some pros and cons being a corporate centrist democrats hes got the appeal of being palatable (if begrudgingly) to a very large number of people.

The big con there is the level of political polarization that currently exists. If you think, as conventional wisdom states, that any election in 2020 is gonna come down to base turnout then Booker is the wrong call.

A big pro is that he is black so even if he doesnt turn out white liberals he will probably turn out african americans.

Another con would be if trump is somehow not the candidate. Booker is a great matchup for someone as boxed into a political corner as Trump but if its Kasich? Much harder

I think the black candidate means black voters thing is an oversimplification

Obama attracted black voters to turn out in higher numbers not merely BECAUSE he was black, but because he was able to use his race in such a way to speak to black voters to make them feel like he had lived through the same struggles and he had their back.

I'm not sure Booker can pull that off

He also worked with Betsy DeVos to privatize education. Booker also defended Romney and Bain Capital. Is he better than anyone the Republicans have? Sure. But he's not getting my vote. In the primaries, or in the general election. He's too opportunistic. I don't trust him, and I'm not one who expects candidates to be perfect. Is this a common move in the middle of a term? Like, I know politicians have switched before. This just seems like it'll upset off the people proven to vote for you without the confidence that your new base will accept your recent change.
