Like today he was saying all this shit about black people and "Saudis" (the people probably weren't even Saudis). He made this joke "Why do they call it being caught red handed if the hands are always black?"

The funny thing about that is that he actually has an arrest record for shoplifting, and yet he still thinks black people = thieves. He's white btw.

One of my best friends is black, and he once deadpanned this joke to me randomly while playing video games: "Who wins in a fight between a black guy and a Mexican? *dramatic pause* EVERYONE."

I admit the hands joke is clever, but if it's that bad, tell him how you feel about that shit and what he's doing.

Sometimes people just like to make edgy racist jokes and comments because they think it's funny or edgy and don't see how racist and offensive it can really be.

Just tell him how you feel and how offensive that actually is. If he is genuinely racist to the degree it sounds like, you're going to have to figure out a solution or decide if he's worth it.

I grew up in a mixed neighborhood and went to mixed(but Mexican majority) schools all my life. the trend I noticed about all of my White friends growing up is that they all had racial jokes like this. about Black people, Mexicans and Asians.

I would do a fake laugh sometimes to keep them from getting all insecure and defensive by NOT laughing. if I didn't laugh, I'd get responses like "hey, you know I'm just kidding right?" "hey, you know I'm not racist, right?" "aww c'mon, it was kinda funny right? lighten up!" lolololol

Yeah, and also if they can only tell jokes about other races. It's fun to kinda poke fun at your own race too. Was playing chess with a friend of mine just the other night actually, and when I asked him if he wanted to by white or black, he kinda made fun of how chess was racist for white always going first, so I drew it further and said "yeah if they wanted to be accurate they'd let black go first so White can copy all of Black's moves and take credit for it down the road". We both laughed and played the game.

anyway, people are less offended by the "jokes" and more bored of the redundancy of a trend continued on by the lowest common denominator. it's low IQ humor, so many outside of that bubble just don't find it funny. juvenile edginess, lol.

Some people laugh at an un-PC joke for the sake of laughing at an un-PC joke. They don't care if it's actually good.

some people make good money from it, so there's definitely a market. look at Bill Maher.

I can't think of anything he's said that was funny on a professional comedian level, but sometimes I'm amused when he goes at groups that I also have contempt for, lol. but I can't quote the guy outside of his infamous "house n-word" comment, lol. and it's literally just the last four words.

I only see him once every few months. We used to do more stuff together online, like voice chat and gaming stuff, but we haven't done as much as he has gotten more angry and racist. He's getting sucked into all this alt-right crap.

That's a big part of it for me. Imagine if you had a job at Five Guys and there was this one person who always had the same shift as you and always told the same goddamn innuendo joke every damn morning when you saw him. And then whenever someone you met found out you worked at Five Guys they'd tell the same kind of joke.
First time might be great, but even the third variation is tiring. I'm Asian and it's literally nothing but dog-eating, math, or honour jokes for years and years when people tell racial jokes and I'm supposed to laugh or they'll be offended because they think I'm offended.
