Yeah it's pretty well-regarded but I suppose it's not a show that gets a whole lot of discussion or recognition today, aside from Bryan Cranston

One thing that I do think it doesn't get enough credit for is being pretty much the first big sitcom to use single-camera format and no laugh track

The Wonder Years was a very popular one before it
and Pete and Pete

but I think Malcom kind of blew up the genre.

The Wonder Years also presented itself as a drama fairly often.

Pete and Pete was literally on Nickelodeon.

I think the big thing with Malcolm is that theres nowhere you can even watch it legally right now

I think this show gets plenty of recognition-- it's called underrated to the point of being overrated imo.

This.

I love Malcolm and King of the Hill to death, but those two shows can't really be underrated when they lasted 7+ seasons each and got consistent viewership and accolades.

I've done the rewatch thing like 3x .

Season 3 is probably the most consistent Season and pound for pound the funniest.

Laugh tracks were played out by 2000 anyway, and one would have ruined the show.

But internet popularity is lacking. The most important popularity when in regards to being underrated
Right?

I wonder if someone did a favorite sitcom tournament on the board where it would place... My guess is probably in the top 15 or 20, which would hardly qualify as "underrated."
