Hard for me to think of someone other than Robin Williams in the role, but this seems like a good fit. Will Smith can be pretty bombastic at times.

Dan Castellaneta does a good job in the Kingdom Hearts series and The Return of Jafar so he'll be the best choice.

I'm okay with it. He's not the best choice -- since there are a lot of fast-talking stand-up comedians who would be a better fit -- but I like Smith and feel that he can bring a lot to the role. Plus it's apropos given that Williams was also a larger-than-life star whose star power at the time encroached on the story.

I'm more interested in Naomi Scott as Jasmine >_>

I hate will smith as an actor because he's always will smith, he can only do himself, which worked in fresh prince, but not when he's supposed to be someone else

Worked for him as a wise-cracking cop in Bad Boys. Or a wise-cracking secret agent in Men in Black. Or a wise-cracking pilot in Independence Day. Or a wise-cracking superhero in Hitch. Or a wise-cracking... you know, I'm starting to notice a theme here...

Yeah, I didn't even realize it wasn't Robin Williams for a very long time after I beat the game. Now that I know though, I can't unhear Homer during his loud "Oooooohhhhh!" when he's summoned.

He'll probably be ok. I don't understand Disney's fascination with live action remakes, though.

I could tell Castellaneta apart from Williams but yeah, he did a pretty good job.

I don't expect Will Smith will try for imitation. He'll probably do his own version.

He had a different enough personality in Hitch. And in Hancock he was basically just a butthole. Plus Pursuit of Happyness and Seven Pounds.

It's what he does best. It's like being mad at Vin Diesel for playing tough guys.

Yes, fairly obvious.

Typecasting does have its benefits. You know what to expect just from the casting in many cases.

diesel can do more than playing tough guys. unfortunately, he's just typecast is all. watch "find me guilty" and you'll see what I'm talking about. He does a good job in "Saving Private Ryan", although its a small role.

That works for him though, unlike other "always the sames" like Ben Stiller and Melissa McCarthy.

Haven't seen any of the remakes, but they'd have to have similar stuff in there with a few ver batims, I'd assume. Granted, I think Robin Williams just ad-libbed half of his shit.
