They could just YouTube how to do it if they don't know. If they can't even do that then they need to re-evaluate their lives.

You're in an area where you can't reach triple a but you can watch a YouTube video?

Oookay

Fair point. I was thinking more along the lines of if you're not a AAA member. I think you have to be a member for them to come out.

Older generations always shit on the younger. Unfortunately in our political climate, you not only have older generations but Conservatives shitting on millennials for their liberal views and "SJW"ism/PC culture.

Out of curiosity, what year were you born?

Did you figure it out completely on your own? Did most people who know how to do it just figure it out on their own? I know how but it's because my dad showed me. I mean on some cars if you don't have the manual you can have a hell of a time even locating where the jack is.

Because you'll always have internet access anywhere you drive ever.

98% of cars come with a jack and tire iron. There's some nuts which hold the wheel on. If you need google to get you through it that's also pretty stunning

Yes.

It's literally some nuts. The only issue I had when I first had to do it was I initially jacked up the car before loosening the wheel lugs. So I lowered the jack loosened them and got it done.

I can't change a tire, but I can code.

Why can't you do both?

I had to change a flat on the side of a major interstate once. This was less than fun but necessary. I was still under warranty but and could have gotten a tow for free but it was going to take several hours. The temperature outside was 95 F and my car was all black. I just put on the spare and got it fixed later. That car had five flat tires in the course of 3 months. I think someone must have dropped a box of nails on my commute. I changed the tire a lot.

Since then, none of my cars have even had a spare. The cars were too small to carry it and too low to jack them up with a stand.

It's pretty intuitive aside from knowing you need the "key" and that you should use a star pattern when you put it back on. Also where your vehicle's jack points are.

So yeah basically anyone can do it in an emergency without prior knowledge but there are some things that require knowledge to do it properly so you don't fuck up your vehicle, either immediately or in the long run.

With zero technique she shows how easy it is.

Aren't the mistakes she made that she unloosened and tightened with the car jacked?

I was taught to first unloosen while the car is on the ground, then jack it up, then complete the removal process, change tire, put on nuts but don't fully tighten, then lower car completely, then finally tighten.

Basically you want the tire on the ground when you put lots of pressure on tightening or loosening, because it's more stable. The car in this video was wobbling all over the place.

LOL @ acting like changing a tire couldn't be done by a chimpanzee and is something to be proud of. I didn't know how to change a tire until I got a flat. Then I googled, "how to change a tire on a 2006 Toyota Tercel SE" and got detailed instructions for my exact car, and changed it in less than 10 minutes. I still wouldn't respond on a survey that I know how to change a tire, because I don't "know". I can however, figure it and pretty much anything else out with instructions, so who cares?

When you carry around a magic box in your pocket or bag that can display step by step instructions for how to do nearly everything, ever, you don't need to learn specific knowledge on banal tasks.
