You are also the 1st complaint about the rollout since this started so... maybe you are just being too picky dude. Yea but come on man, you know you've gotten a lot of people that mentioned the way you do rankings. Sometimes it is really easy to get confused. The way I do it, and of course this is just me, I just give the game a solid score and/or ranking and then a writeup. --- 1st Year OMG Link Always Wins. 2nd Year OMG FF7 Always Wins. 3rd Year OMG Link Always Wins. 2101st Year OMG CATS Always Wins. ... Your content and writeups are great for the most part but yeah. For example we don't need 9 Ascii boxes and whatever to indicate 9/10. Just write 9/10 it is so much easier to see and interpret. It looks better to me than everything being in plain text. Subjective opinion. What can ya do? Point is, I don't waltz into your topics and give you s*** for the way you type things out. If the format isn't working for you then I suggest you do your own topic or wait for the next person to take on the subject. It's just a bit more broken down. But honestly this is just one side of the criticism since I've been asked a million times how I came to a score before when I just post 9/10 for example. It's actually why I've developed over time to show a complete breakdown of how I reached my final score but whatever. Which is appropriate because 3 is the best Mega Man game. I don't care how unfinished or glitchy it was, 3 really impressed me. In part because I played the series in almost reverse order (7, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1; then 9 & 10 when they were released). It was mind-blowing when I cleared the 8 stages and then the Doc Robots showed up. Nothing like that happened in any of the other games and I wasn't prepared for one of the oldest games to have a twist on the formula. And since I was going backwards, it had the odd effect of being a look into what was coming up. I got to fight modified versions of the Robot Masters from the game I was going to be playing next. I'm sure there aren't many people who got to have that experience, but it was just amazing. The intro to the game is okay, if a bit nonsensical. I'm still not sure why the game takes place on multiple uncharted planets, as nothing in the game itself even hints at it. Is interstellar travel really so common place in that world that Mega Man can just casually travel the galaxy? I seem to remember space travel being a bigger deal in the X series, particularly X5, with crashing that space shuttle into...a falling space station or something...it's been a while since I played that one and don't care to look up the details. Aaaanywho, this is a great song for a great game. ================================================== {Like Elec Man, this song just barely misses getting the perfect 40/40.} --- g:\>[peacekeeping]/calculation g:\>[solution\extermination] ... For reasons, I wound up going through the worst songs of MM4 before coming back to this song... easily better than anything from 4 and so, so, so much better than the absolute dreck that are its worst songs. Snake Man is an interesting character. He's the first non-human Robot Master, right? SINCE SOMEONE ISN'T ACTUALLY A BUNNY AT ALL. *continues glaring at Cut Man* So, I'd forgotten about it until I started ranking some of these songs, but Mega Man 3 takes place on alien worlds. Light & Wily created these 8 Robots to go into space and mine...whatever MacGuffin they needed to build Gamma. Which just raises so many questions. 1. If I asked you to create 8 interstellar mining bots, would "anthropomorphic snake" really be the design you went with? 1a. Seriously, whose idea was this? Did Light and Wily come up with it together or is this design Wily just trolling Dr. Light? [Dr. Wily]: "Yeah, I'm totally reformed! I'm a good guy now! Oh, you say you need some mining droids, well I've got the perfect idea. Just hear me out: Giant. Walking. Snake Man." [Dr. Light]: "That's the...no, no, in the interest of friendship, I shouldn't dismiss your ideas. If you think we need a Snake Man, then a Snake Man we shall build!" [Dr. Wily] "...Seriously?" 2. Was this stage/planet filled with giant robot snakes to begin with or did Snake Man build them all himself when he turned evil? Was he just going about his day mining, then Wily flipped the "evil switch", and Snake Man was suddenly "MUST BUILD GIANT FORTRESS OF SNAKES TO KILL MEGA MAN"? On a random (err...even more random) side note, he seems to have gotten a pretty nice action figure for the American cartoon show: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/0/01/Snakemanactionfigure.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20060703192447 Look, it even came with a Search Snake! ================================================== --- g:\>[peacekeeping]/calculation g:\>[solution\extermination] ... It's a pretty great game to be associated with. I really enjoy the original Punch-Out!!, though I've never finished it. Every couple of years I take a shot at it, but I've never come particularly close to beating Tyson. Err...by original, I mean "NES". I forgot the arcade game came first, didn't it? I'd look it up, but I don't really care. </.< Not really a fan of the sequels though. I don't hold anything against Super or Wii, but they've never held my attention for long. I don't think they really improved on the formula, it was just like "here's more Punch-Out!!" and I'm like "Okay, but I'd rather try to finish the first one...?" If I had to play a Punch-Out!! like game other than the original, I'd rather replay Teleroboxer or Wade Hixton's Counter Punch. Teleroboxer may be the best game on the Virtual Boy (not that there's much competition) and Wade Hixton is an obscure game that never got the attention it deserved. For being a low budget GBA attempt at a Punch-Out!! knock off. The game may have a lot of problems, but it was packed with a lot of heart & soul. They tried to add more depth to the formula. They added a nonsensical excuse plot and you could earn money to purchase upgrades or hire people to help cheat for you. Yes, the upgrades were unbalanced (one is actively worse than the upgrade that preceded it) and only one of the three cheats were worth purchasing; Yes, it was annoying having to click everywhere in town to find the one person that wanted to fight you. But the characters wee unique! The first opponent is a garbage man who can sic a raccoon on you! I think it's what a true sequel to Punch--Out!!! should have been: Cranking the absurdity up to 11 and not being afraid to try out new twists on the formula. Even if it didn't all work out, at least they TRIED. ....what were we talking about again? Oh, right, right, Skull Man. I guess evil skeleton isn't a bad concept, but when Pharaoh Man has an endless army of undead minions, it's hard to see Skull Man as anything but a lackey. Why should I care about a skeleton when I already fought a bunch of mummies & zombies? It's also off that Skull Man wasn't made by Dr. Wily. Skulls are his thing! If anyone made EVIL SKULL ROBOTS, it would be the evil skull themed scientist! The wiki suspects that Wily may have influenced the design: Skull Man was the last robot designed by Dr. Cossack & was built for combat, so they think it's possible Wily convinced Cossack to build him. That would make sense, but I don't think any source implies that... so it's just a bit of fanon. An interesting bit of fanon, but fanon none-the-less. ================================================== {I probably should have corrected some of those typos and broken sentences, but the write-up is what it is. EDIT: Also, I forgot to point it out: While there were multiple cheats you could purchase in Counter-Punch, at least one of them actively doesn't work. You can bribe the ref to do a slow count, but much like Punch-Out!!, there is a point where it is impossible for you to get back up; slowing the count does NOTHING because it is impossible for you to get up, no matter how many times you push the button. It's filled with things like that, where you can tell the game just wasn't entirely finished. I still think it has a real chance at being the best Punch-Out!! style game in spite of those things.} --- g:\>[peacekeeping]/calculation g:\>[solution\extermination] ... Copied to Clipboard!

DOUBLE!!=428 (9/10) [Rambly Babbley Prattle Value]: 1,235 (9/10) [Total]: 37/40 Skimming the comments, it seems people tend to read a lot of meaning into this song. "this music is actually very sad. it makes you think of all the pain and hatred in Wily's heart. he's gone past the salvageable point, holding a child hostage. it shows how desperately insane he is. he just cannot hide the evil any longer. its ripping him apart." "That was really poetic. My personal take on this song was that it was raw drive and determination. The Cossack stages had a more ominous tone, but after Wily was revealed to be the one pulling the strings, the songs changed to a more driving and determined feel. This song conveys Rock's unbreakable resolve to stop this madman once and for all (even though we know that's not the case lol)" I wonder what it would be like to have such strong reactions to music. I know it's a good song and that it's absolutely top tier for Mega Man Fortress Themes, but I don't hear any particular emotion to it, much less build an entire story in my head about characters and symbolism. Every time I go back and listen to it, I wind up moving it further up my list. At this rate, by the time my list is finalized, it will have snuck its way into the number one slot. I've always kinda liked Bubble Man. Yeah, he might be sort of lame, but in an intentionally funny way--not like lame-o Metal Man. "..a defect in [Bubble Man's] system makes him unable to walk on land, being only able to move by jumping. After seeing this, Wily couldn't help but laugh at his way of moving." Even Dr. Wily can't help but laugh at his creation. Just picture it: A mad scientist seeking revenge builds an army of killer robots. He creates 8 Masters to lead them. Most of these are modified versions of his rival's creations, taking their concepts and making them even better to prove Wily's superiority. He attempts to create an underwater assassin, one of his first truly unique ideas. It comes to life and...hops around because it literally cannot walk. The madman laughs at his creation. This also means that Bubble Man's first memory is presumably of his creator laughing in his face about his disability. That is, like, equal parts tragic and hilarious. Tragilarious, if you would. *Googles that* So a few other people have made up that word. That makes me feel slightly less crazy. Always found it amusing that he has a spiked wall ceiling in his boss fight, like his master plan is hoping you accidentally kill yourself. I'm not sure if that's supposed to indicate that he's skilled at traps (laying spikes and trying to trick you into falling to your death) or that he's so lame he needs the stage to kill you for him. His weapon, Bubble Lead, is quite helpful. Since it rolls along the ground, it can find invisible holes and help you safely traverse the Wily Fortresses. It's also the only way to hurt the final boss. So go ahead, laugh at Bubble Man. Where would you be without him? Stuck in an infinite battle against a holographic alien, that's where! Hyadain Theme: Sad Engrish-y Bubble Man is best Bubble Man. ================================================== {The Megas claim Bubble Man's power is the most ridiculous (or rather their version of Bubbleman sings that his power is the most ridiculous), but I honestly think his might be one of the least silly. In no particular order... 1.A Robot that can stop time, but most other robots have a device that renders them immune to the effect anyway & also he built his stage so you can actually dodge his bullets while frozen in time. 2.A Robot with super speed, who only uses his speed to jump and throw boomerangs. Also, is the only boss to not have the device rendering him immune to the time stop. 3.A Robot that attacks with leaves made out of a super metal. 4.A Robot whose gimmick is "made of metal", like, you know...most robots. Or as The Megas put it "My name is Metal Man. I throw Metal Blades from my Metal Hands". 5.A Zippo lighter with flames hotter than the sun. 6.A Robot who can fire miniature tornadoes, using a device that was part of a kite-flying experiment that went wrong. 7.A Robot with a seemingly infinite amount of bombs on spikes, which actually makes sense for once. 8.A Robot that traps his opponents in highly corrosive acid and fights in an arena that eliminates his disability. It's also likely going to get a high Babble Score because the WWE actually used this for someone's entrance theme: That's right, someone actually came down to the ring to Mega Man 2 music. This is a thing that happened. I...well honestly I've never seen TJ Perkins wrestle. I heard about it from the Wrestling Discussion Topic, which I kinda lurk at but never post in. I use to be a wrestling fan, but I've lost almost all interest in WWE. I still tune in to Royal Rumble & WrestleMania, but that's about it...and I haven't cared for either of those for a few years. I think I stopped caring around the point Vince decided to ram Roman Reigns down everyone's throat. [I hear Netflix has the rights to Lucha Underground and I've heard very good things about it. Since I like the sillier parts of wrestling (I am the type of person that gets far more interested in a "Buff Bagwell's Mother on a Pole" match then some 5 star classic), I'm looking forward to watching it instead; I should also look into Chikara at some point, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to it. ...and I'm sure Lucha Underground doesn't do anything as stupid as WCW at its worst (best?), but it certainly takes itself less seriously than WWE wants to.] I know Se7en dislikes wrestling, but I'm still a bit of a fan. I'd have given significantly more points to the WrestleMania nom; sure it's not entirely video game related, but there are a lot of WWE videogames & WrestleMania tends to factor quite highly in several of them for obvious reasons. Besides several games with WrestleMania in the title, you also have things like WWE 2k14 that allows you to play through moments from the first 30 WrestleManias... so I'd have given the nomination at least half a point of relation to gaming. I tried replaying 2k14 recently, but I can barely get started on the WrestleMania mode at the highest difficulty. I'm stuck at the Macho Man VS Ric Flair match because Flair keeps cheating... the very first goal is to hit him with a finisher, but Flair almost never allows it. Last time I tried the fight he dodged five finishers in a row. It feels like it's turning into a luck based mission--I can't win if Flair refuses to follow the script and take the hit. Then the last goal is to win with a roll-up, but I still haven't managed that. You roll so far with Flair that you practically have to get him in the exact right spot where you can flip him without shoving him into the ropes...and Flair can reverse the roll at any point. So you have to knock him down, position him exactly, and then ask him nicely if he's willing to let you try to win the match. Ugh. I should just lower the difficulty, but I'm too stubborn and I know I finished it at the highest difficulty once. ...wait, what were we talking about again? ================================================== {Have not gone back to that WWE game since this was written. Too many other games I'd rather play than finish replaying that one. Have watched a bit of Lucha Underground, though not as much as I expected; it's great, but I just haven't been in the mood for a good wrestling show that I would want to actually pay attention to. I do want to see it, I just...haven't for some reason?"} --- g:\>[peacekeeping]/calculation g:\>[solution\extermination] ... Copied to Clipboard!

Final Words
... ... ...well. Um, I don't really have any atm. This was fun to rank and I am thankful for my co-host. Kinda wish there were more participants in the discussion but there wasn't a whole lot of discussing of anything going on anyway. Thanks Raetsel for lending your time here. Hope to see you in more topics in the future! =) --- "Best read of the game goes to se7en. Who correctly surmised this town is full of idiots." - Corrik Se7en ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, as soon as I learned our rankings were going to be combined, I figured that song had to get #1. It's the one song that everyone compares every other Mega Man song to: While it's not everyone's favorite (or either of our favorites, actually), it seems to get pretty high rankings from everyone.
Well, it's been fun. Once again, I thank Se7en for letting me join in on this and allowing me absolute freedom for ranking criteria, no matter how...abnormal I may have went. Like I said, I really wanted to work with him because I'm pretty sure he's the only person that would have put up with it. </.< --- g:\>[peacekeeping]/calculation g:\>[solution\extermination] ...
