Pokemon for Switch
Sonic mania
Pokken tournament DX
Mario and Luigi super star saga remake
Fire emblem warriors
Sonic forces

I literally want all of these! Nintendo is getting so much of my money this christmas. Now the hard part is actually being able to find a switch.

I'm pleasantly surprised. Nintendo took the bad era they had and they're really making something out of the new lease on life the Switch has given them.

My only problem is that a lot of the hype-bringer games are 2018-ish, but I'll give them credit that the focus on E-Sports and more competitive multiplayer games in the meantime gives them a lot of time to work with in terms of the install base . e.g. people can be distracted by Splatoon, ARMS, and Pokken while the valve of their bigger titles is dripped slowly.

I'm hoping that means that Smash Switch will be a Q4 2017/Q1 2018 release if this Nintendo Vs. thing is a strategy for the start of the console.

I get that they mentioned games being made but this does nothing for me considering we didn't see anything for them. MP4 only a logo and we all know they will show something about the game until next year same goes for Pokemon. Other than knowing the game is being made it adds nothing else at least for me....they could just show these off next year with gameplay and blow everyone's mind now we're expecting them...

The Prime 4 and Pokemon teases honestly come off as if they're desperate to pad out their game roster or something. Prime 4 also clearly them scrambling to regain trust after the utter failure that was FF.
There was just simply no real reason for them to even be there.

Nintendo completely broke away from their traditions with BotW, Splatoon (which is only a couple years old), and ARMS. Mario Odyssey is trying a ton of new things out and breaking away from any kind of level design the series has previously used. There are soooo many indie games on Steam--really, really good ones--that represent every genre you could imagine, from shooters and metroidvanias and action games with actually interesting and well-done twists and gimmicks, to roguelike everything, to programming puzzle games where you can compete with the world to be the most efficient.

Gaming has only stagnated if you look at companies like EA and Activision.

People have been crying for a while that Nintendo doesn't care about Metroid. They do have Samus Returns but 3DS games weren't in the spotlight. The announcement was enough for people.

Pokemon was there so people know that Pokemon is indeed going to the Switch and not the 3DS or some handheld that doesn't exist. A lot of people panicked after Ultra Sun/Moon lol.

I guess if you can say BotW is basically Demon's Souls with a straight face, then yeah, gaming flatlined shortly after someone figured out how to rig a monitor to a computer since everything since then has been exactly the same thing with images being displayed sequentially on a screen.

I mirror Bat's sentiments. I don't get interested in new IPs unless they're truly original. Most new IPs are the same shit in a different coat of paint. Blame Nintendo all you want for "rehashing" but literally all they do in those IPs is re-use characters. The actual games try something different every time. Look at how fucking different Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild are, by comparison. Look at all the new shit Mario Odyssey is trying out to make itself different compared to Galaxy. You can't tell me that they're the same exact games without outright lying.

Hell, let me get out of Nintendo for a moment and look at Assassin's Creed. Despite them making yearly releases, most of them try things different to spice up the formula or even introduce radically different elements such as pirate battles in one of them. Call of Duty also keeps trying new things nowadays.

Translation

Breath of the Wild is completely different from any Action/Open World Action based game ever made. It's stamina and weapon duration mechanics are absolutely fresh and set new trends in the genre. The combat is also an unique approach from a gameplay perspective. It's reminiscent of a Beat'em up with its simplistic format, but the open world aspect changes the impact. The spear default combo really feels different every time Shrines, while on the shorter side, make great for the unending fetch quests.

Best Zelda in years IMO. A real GOAT.

Yeah, I mean, I remember solving puzzles with powers that let you store momentum in large objects or telekinetically manipulate metal ones in Demon's Souls too. And in that game's open world, I also enjoyed meeting NPCs who gave me quests and riddles.

You look like you're comically grasping to literally everyone here. Just give it up.

I'm not comically grasping tbh. And I didn't see precisely what you're talking about with the puzzle.

I can still say Breath of the Wild is overrated, tho. (Which is all I've really said)

Up till now the most you've said about the game objectively is that it has some good puzzles. But, it's a Zelda game, right? That's implied on name alone. And, I can't remember any Shrine before or immediately after the paraglider that opposed tremendous thought.

Tell me something Breath of the Wild did for the Zelda franchise (outside of the story) that could be considered lasting.

Non-linear and ability to go anywhere with no restrictions is something I can see future Zelda games having. It'll seem like a downgrade to me if they revert to linear Zelda with structured area design outside of dungeons again.
