I erroneously told people during the live sim that the Cowboys clinched a playoff spot, but I think that there is a scenario that the Cowboys could lose out on their playoff spot if they lose both of the games, the Giants win out, the Pumpkins win in Week 17, and the Vikings win out. That would mean that in a three-way scenario, the Vikings and Pumpkins could possibly win tiebreakers over the Cowboys, not that I can guarantee that would be the case.

I am pretty sure that the Chiefs cannot win on tiebreakers individually or in a 3+ team tie, but I don't know for certain.

Dolphins at Pats in Week 17 should result in the winner getting homefield in the playoffs while the loser travels to the AFC North winner in the wild card round.

I am fairly certain that while the game doesn't say they clinched the division, the Broncos should win the AFC West due to having a better divisional record in the event they lose and Raiders win on Friday.

I believe that if the Steelers win, tie/lose while the Browns tie/lose, or the Browns lose, the Steelers win the AFC North. Thus as I mentioned to stuntman a little bit ago, I think the only way that the Browns win the North is if they win and Steelers lose.

Raiders are guaranteed to have a better conference record than the Colts, so much like the Steelers in their battle with the Browns, the Raiders just need to have the same or better record than the Colts, and they earn their first playoff birth.

The game says that the Cowboys and Giants have clinched playoff berths. I can never trust Madden, so I am dismissing their claims until I see the playoff schedule.

The game says that the Bucs have not clinched the NFC South, but it is impossible for them to not have a better record than the Falcons, so they should win the NFC South.

They are listing the Lions as being the NFC North leaders when by all accounts it should be the Vikings. I believe that the Vikings control their own destiny and make the playoffs in some capacity as long as they win. The Lions, who are undefeated at home, could miss out on the playoffs if they lose at home to the Lightning (coming off a 44 point shutout) and the Vikings win. They would have an identical conference record with the Falcons (if the Falcons do win against the Chiefs to get to 10-6). It might go to record in like games after that, but I'm not going to spend time looking into that.

The Falcons might actually be eliminated since I haven't discovered any sort of tiebreaker they might hold over potential playoff teams in 3+ team scenarios, but I am far from certain. They would need for the Lions and Pumpkins to lose (obviously) and in that scenario would prevent the head-to-head loss to the Pumpkins from becoming a factor.

The Pumpkins are eliminated if they lose. They would either have a 1-on-1 battle with the Lions or a 3+ way with the Falcons. They would lose both tiebreaker scenarios due to an inferior conference record.

Sorry if these ramblings are incoherent. The NFC is all sorts of more crazy than AFC in terms of their playoff scenarios. Almost all the seedings are wide open races as well.

I won't be able to make week 17, which is a shame because I really want to see how the NFC shakes out. But I've made sure I'll make the live playoff sim, and the awards ceremony if you decide to do that.

But for now, i just need to crush the Falcons and hope for the best with Madden's bizarro rules.
