that's what i was alluding to. based on the performance during that game, it wasn't clear that the warriors were vastly superior before kawhi went down (but it was still probably true). after he went down, it was crystal clear.

Man, I keep watching Bradley's game winner and the thing that is almost as great as the shot itself is JR Smith's defense.

I've always questioned if IT can be a superstar when he's such a defensive minus. he's the only guy with that stature that I can remember where the coach pulls him in the last 1-2 minutes for defense.

IT's not a max player, but i think there are two issues as big as his D: 1. when the refs swallow their whistles, he cannot get calls in the playoffs, and he can be bullied very easily with physical defense - and 2. he's small enough that he's more il/kely to get hurt from this type of defense

the celtics are definitely better off without *injured* isaiah

Not remotely a Warriors fan but I hope the Warriors beat them by 50+ after how ridiculous Popovich has been in press conferences about the injury. Plus Spurs fans sending Zaza's family death threats over it to the point of them having to provide security at his kid's school is fucking abhorrent.

Far less scummy than the people stepping out on Durant, or the pick set on Curry. Both were INTENDED to injure. Zazas was at least not trying to injure anyone.

there's been a ton of hagiography written about Manu these last couple of days but I don't think he's all that special. like, he's good. he's an all-star. he'll be remembered for his eurostep and his innate sense of the moment (both positive and negative). but he's not a HOF guy. he just feels like one because he played on San Antonio. I can't think of a single point in time in which he was top 10 in the league.

That's because it's just basketball HoF.

Not just NBA.

Anthony Davis could retire tomorrow, and he'd still make the HoF because of his college career (player of the year, NCAA Championship MVP, most wins ever in a season).

And Carmelo will be a HoFer because of his college career added to his NCAA career.

As undeserving as he is, Tyler Hansborough will make the Hall someday for the same reason.

Manu has a Gold Medal, and Four NBA Titles. He has also probably played more games of organized basketball than any other human ever except Kareem when you take his time in the Euro League, NBA, and the fact he played international almost every year into account.

and for that matter number of games does not mean anything to me, (Derek Fisher is a Hall of Famer?)

i feel like being a first ballot HoF in basketball is by far the least significant and easiest to do
