The NBA is such a joke

Even when the Lakers won three in a row from 2000-2002, they were at least challenged. And even in 2001 when they were undefeated in the Western Conference and almost went undefeated in the whole playoffs, it was exciting because that was such a rare feat

This year's playoffs, with the Warriors and Cavs going to the Finals again facing no opposition, shows how much of a joke league the NBA has become

so what's the solution then?

lebron can carry anyone and as long as he has somewhat competent teammates that team will go to the finals every year.

the warriors schemed and got themselves a big 4...somewhat organically at least. But what you gonna do? Tell these superstars they can't play on the same team?

I didn't, but "it was exciting because it was such a rare feat" is a bullshit defense being that the same sentence would describe TWO teams going undefeated into the finals.

I don't know that a solution is necessary. The NBA Finals ratings have been good the last two years, and if Cleveland/Golden State meet again this year then it'll be the rubber match for them. It should be pretty exciting.

No max contracts, keep salary cap, harsher luxury tax penalties.

There gap between the best 10 players and the next 10 is to large to allow teams to stockpile multiple of them.

There really isn't a solution right now. This "arms race" mentality that LeBron instilled in the league when he "took his talents to South Beach" has taken over the league. Players recognize now that the only way to win a championship is either to join up with other stars to try and beat LeBron, or to join up with LeBron. That has led to the league being lopsided to the Cavs, Warriors, and only 1-2 teams that even stand a very slight chance at beating them.

The NBA can't really tell players that they can't sign with a certain team because they're already too good. The players association would riot if they tried. The only way I could see them fixing this imbalance is to limit the money teams can spend, either by reducing the salary cap or reducing the number of max contracts a team can give. Then, hopefully teams won't be able to afford having 3 or 4 superstars all at once, and things will balance out a bit.

people forget that the NBA has been like this forever. Lakers/Celtics in the 80s, Bulls/Jazz in the 90s, Heat/Spurs recently and now Cavs/Warriors

There never has been the same finals 3 years in a row.

Jordan beat the Lakers, blazers, sun's, sonics , jazz, jazz.

The Celtics dynasty in the 60s was probably the closest to the current stagnation.

No one is blaming LeBron or Durant for doing what the league allows. At least not anymore. The problem isn't that the cavs and warriors are the best teams. It's that everyone else doesn't matter. LeBrons effect on the east is like Jordan's. But now that the west has gotten just as stagnant it makes every game that isn't the finals bad. I won't be surprised if the ratings, especially at the end of games, for this post season are the lowest in a long time.

The sweeps also means it could be almost 2 weeks from when the conference finals ends and the NBA finals start. Which isn't good either.

move the three point line back

All that would do is make it even harder for everyone else to hit threes and give the Warriors an even bigger advantage, since Steph and Klay have shown on many occasions that he can make threes even like 6-8 feet beyond the line. They're just that stupidly good. Steph Curry's three-point shooting is so unbelievabe that the creators of the NBA 2K video games said they can't even accurately depict how good he is at shooting. The game mechanics themselves make 2K Steph Curry not shoot as well as real life Steph Curry.

He's literally better than his video game self. LeBron is too, arguably Kevin Durant as well.

Lebron ruined the league tbh.

By forming the Bosh, Wade Superteam he set a super team precedent and now we have two super teams that can't be stopped by their conferences.

I think the only solution is to get rid of Conference, that way at least the Cavs would lost before the finals so it wouldn't be the same thing every year

I think the best solution for the NBA now is to contract some of the league. It will never happen because it means less money, but there is so much fluff in the NBA it's laughable.

Get rid of the Nets, Hornets, Bucs, Magic, Pelicans, Timberwolves, Kings, and Clippers. These teams are the definition of irrelevance. Take the superstars from those teams and put them on teams with a chance to win. No one wants to watch those players fight for 20 or 30 win seasons. Make their games matter.
