Made it to 5/7.

Some general thoughts: yo the city exploration music getting vocals was amazing. It already oozed ambiance but now it's just downright amazing. The music playing when Kamoshida confessed was great too. Honestly, the music has been great all-around for the most part, but those were some new stand-outs for me.

also these guys are the worst phantom thieves. they publicly talk about how they're the phantom thieves and discuss their plans in public. in the middle of the city. after they got spooked by makoto basically figuring them out. god if she just tailed them for a day and recorded the audio she'd have them already.

Also, dammit Morgana, I was made the leader, we leave Mementos when I say we do. I'm running low on money, I could have made good use of our trip if you let me explore more!

Also, anyone know if it's safe to sell the stuff in the treasure tab you get from dungeons? I'm assuming it is, but I've been afraid to do so on the off-case it's needed/useful for something else later on.

What's everyone's thoughts on Last Surprise? Overall I like it, but I'm still torn on the vocals. Sometimes I like it, other times it sounds off. The rest of the track is great.

Have you ever tried making a lockpick from scratch before?

Also as you get better at making things you'll be able to make much more and varied things in one night (If I make just lockpicks right now for instance, I can do 4+ in one night), so presumably it is an abstraction of your protagonist trying to learn how to do it well and efficiently at first.

Specifically, you can make (proficiency + 1), with a chance of making an extra one. And you get an extra point of proficiency if you do!

I may or may not have save-scummed the hell out of this every night I made lockpicks >_>

From what I've heard of the English audio, I definitely prefer the Japanese one, but the Japanese one is also more familiar to me so I might not be the best person to get an answer from.

I've not tried both but so far the dub might actually be the best dub I've ever heard, ever (except the last name thing but it doesn't really bother me that much)

You know who's harder than the first dungeon boss? The miniboss you fight as part of the second quest. Lucky punch does "minimal" damage my ass. And high crit rate felt like 95%.

Though, part of that is my own fault....Morgana dies so much for me that I didn't have Media yet.

I really need to find something with Sukunda. Not having full debuff access is irritating me as well.

I'm up to the beginning of the second dungeon, and I love almost everything about this game. The only irritating thing is how limited evenings feel. The game goes out of its way to give you five trillion things to do, and then says "lol whoops you can't actually do any of this stuff because plot, now go to bed like a good boy". It's really dumb and feels artificially limiting. Like okay, I get back from the art show and it's like I can't even study or read a book? Because my daytime was really that exhausting? What the fuck, Atlus.

I felt that way too. Even the "too tired to do anything after mementos" seems off to me.

I will say that I'm in June and a few more evening activities have opened up. It's almost overwhelming how many options the game gives you

Yeah it felt like that for me at first too but its gotten better about it

To be fair Persona 4 totally did that too with stuff like 'you have to help Yosuke at Junes for 5 days' and stuff. It just didn't front load it.

I'd take the reduced freedom over the much slower start P4 has though.

At least the options are there. It makes for an interesting choice, given they added so many different perks to each. In other stuff, I finally got to a point to hear Makoto's VA. You'd think I'd be able to spot Cherami Leigh after hearing her for 10 years, but it took me a few minutes to go, "ULTRA DESPAIR GIRLS!" and finally get it. I could have easily went SAO or Ghost Hunt too, but DanganRonpa was the first thing that hit me.

I think it was the DR scene in Chapter 3 where the main character gets groped by the "motivation machine" that made me remember. It's kind of hard to forget that.

I agree and it's not very consistent, since there are some days of story-related content where you can do things during the evening.

Rolling with MC / Morgana / Ann / Yusuke. Not sure if I'll make it permenant. Morgana might have a long term spot because he's got Media. Him and Ann seem to have the more magic based punch at the moment.

The only thing I've found you can do is put fertilizer on the plant in your room on those days, but it seems like a waste for just that so maybe there's more later or they just thought you would want to talk to Morgana before bed for the OCD people who gotta see all the text.

beat the first palace boss fight last night. was slightly annoyed finding out you have to leave a calling card first before finishing the dungeon. got all the way to the final save point and had to leave because everyone was tired and needed to recover health and sp. basically wasted the next day going back in, getting to the treasure room immediately, and finding out you had to go back the day after that to actually "steal" the treasure.

also, for all the hand-holding the game does, it would have been nice if the shadow negotiation tutorial was forced on the player.

How does everyone feel about how the confidants are all in some way aiding the Phantom Thieves? From a gameplay perspective I like that there's more rewards beyond the Persona experience boost, but miss characters like the old couple running the bookstore in P3.

I kind of like that there's more rewards for leveling up the social links than the just the exp bonus so far. I don't have many confidants yet though.

It makes sense IMO because the Phantom Thieves are having a way bigger impact on the community in the game.

Like the old couple running the bookstore have no reason to be aware of anything about what the Persona 3 people are doing until they get trapped in Tartarus.

Meanwhile the Phantom Thieves are doing shit everyone is aware of.

Like they still don't know how but in Persona 3 and Persona 4 the general public isn't aware there are even people doing anything about the issues for the most part.

I like it because it just makes sense to me with the differencces in what the PC's are doing.

I also really like how Confidants are handled in this game. The whole double life atmosphere, while essentially being the same thing as in P3 and 4 mechanically, has a way different feel to it here.

Starting new confidants with the whole fast forward thing too makes it so exciting

Well, when Morgana said he was adding a bunch of tutorials to the menu without explaining of course I read them all. Lots of good stuff there.

That's said I'm still confused about certain things. Does a Persona's stats affect my main character or is it just for that Persona itself? Like, if I wasn't going to use a skill but the regular attack, would it still be beneficial to be equipped with a Persona with high Strength or does only affect the physical skills?

Also, how does Exp work for Persona? I noticed that if I'm not using one they won't get any Exp, but do I have to be equipped with it at the end of the battle to get some or is it FFX-style where as long as they've done something they'll gain Exp?

I'm not sure if this works all the time (I've actually never failed a negotiation yet), but every time I've tried to get a demon to join me that was too high a level they've always skipped negotiation and just given me stuff. It might backfire if it's not consistent, but I've found it very useful to skip difficult battles that I feel will waste too many resources to finish normally.

Only the one that is active at the end of the battle.

Persona agent really meant to be leveled up by traditional means, even though you can. The arcana EXP bonus is likely to give you more EXP even a few ranks in that you're Persona will ever earn in battle.
