Doing what I can to keep my playthrough as blind as I can, so I'm not going to read the posts in here, but I feel obligated to say... holy shit I'm completely falling in love with this game. Only through the first palace and I can easily see this ending up as my favorite RPG if things keep getting better from here.

I also really enjoy when you beat a phase in a Palace boss and everyone runs up to do a hold up, trash talks the boss and then automatically AoAs them.

Its just so satisfying

Palace 4 down. All 4 done in one shot, let's keep that train rolliiiiiiing. Buying all of the cheap vending machine SP recovery items from every machine that sells them every week has really been paying off.

Dick move having Shadows that are 5-10 levels higher than you with no weakness and instant death attacks throughout the entire latter half of the palace who get two attacks in a row after surviving an Ambush. Fuck you, Anubis.

Still, even though every single instant kill connected, my party members ensured with 1HP every time. :)

Doing the later palaces is much easier I imagine thanks to coffee and such, but I have no clue how people clear the first palace in one run. I had single digit or flat out zero SP on my entire party by the end of it even taking two days. >_>

I needed three runs to clear Palace 1 so I feel ya man. The game is definitely balanced toward not having good SP recovery options early on, and then dumping a bunch on you near the end.

Aw yeah. Another thing I like is when you come across a group of enemies that are all weak to guns and then you quickly cap 'em straight down the line and go right into the AoA. So good.

Oh, no, I have no coffee. The schedule allows for no such thing. I think I've made 3 cups total. I entered the 4th palace with a total of 120 SP worth of recovery, thay being 24 SP5 recovery sodas.

Hierophant progress is locked to story events and he has some of the best options for it, and Empress is the social link that starts latest in the game but has good SP items as well. Getting Temperance up is just a good idea in general, it may cost a lot of money, but it's worth spending it on having her make your SP recovery items.

Beat the second palace boss. Does anything special happen if you have Yusuke in your party then? I forgot to switch him. Didn't need him though.

And yeah, the 2nd palace was a lot easier than the first. Went through it without needing an extra day. I didn't even use any SP items, I just had a lot more of it so it was easier to ration. I even had enough to grind for money. I love how you can literally stick enemies up for cash.

SP starts to feel real trivial once you get the Death confidant high enough to buy Invig 3 accessories for 50k. By that time you're swimming in cash.

I'm on a money run in Mementos. I feel kind of bad for the Shadows. If you ask for money or items, they are like, "But what about the time we used to spend together?" It bothers me a little. I know I mentioned this before, but this game really makes you connect with them somehow.

Also, if Ryuji tells me about his ass itching one more time, I'm going to run him over. Disgusting turd.

I had to blow my free Soma and still scraped through. Had similar issues in the third palace. The second was much easier, in comparison, though it forces you to take two days so that makes sense.

First palace in one run was tough, but if you sold the Soma to buy all the gear at the airsoft place and bought the SP recovery items from the vending machines it was doable, but it was close. I was pretty much at 0 SP across the board with everyone with no recovery items left by the time I got to the treasure.

Yeah, are you taking a lot of time reading everything? I'm at 42 hours and in early August, I think. But i know I've skipped over a lot of things and I'm only playing on normal so most battles don't take that long.

Ok I went into the intro day to the 3rd palace probably underleveled (18 MC, 17 everyone else, compared to Makoto's 21) and undergeared and Makoto's first fight completely dominated me on Hard. (Tactics spoilers?) Had to retry for over an hour, opening the fight by throwing an Evasion item on Ann, hoping that she doesn't get wiped on the very first turn by ice, and then chain sleeping enemies until I could slowly kill one at a time.

Maybe I should go to Mementos before I actually start the 3rd palace

Yeah I'm at 50 hours and I just finished the 4th palace on my first trip in (which was NOT easy), haven't done the heist yet though, in late July.

But I'm fairly completionist about running around talking to everyone too. Probably not to an absolute crazy extent but I make rounds every week or so.

I still really just want to give Futaba a hug :(

If you have info on a Mementos quest, but haven't ID'd that target, they will ban you from entering Mementos.

Even if IDing the target spends time, thus preventing me from going into Mementos after you've ID'd them.

Even if it takes MULTIPLE times.

I think the only time I used skill cards was a situation in the late game where my team didn't have a psy attack and I didn't want to run back to the velvet room to grab a persona that had one. Oh, and again just to finish the Strength Confidant.

Re: First Palace and SP. I just managed to pull it off on Normal without using the DLC Items. I ended it with everyone literally at 2 or less SP though. I had 40 SP in terms of the vending machines (The 8 you can get a week) and the 50 SP item from the dungeon itself. I was extremely stingy with SP the whole way through and used it as sparingly as possible. For about the first half of the dungeon I tried to spread the SP use around the party evenly. After the halfway point I started dumping all the SP recovery items into MC since he can do whatever and tried to hold off on using the remaining SP of the others as much as possible, using only for healing or if I really needed a baton pass or something. It's definitely tough though. I can see it being completely impractical on Hard.

Man, I'm most of the way through June and man it feels like of the 20+ days in I could only visit S-Links on about 3 of them. A lot of it was plot keeping me from acting freely, but not all of it. feels bad. Wondering if I just made an inefficient use of my time or there really just is a bunch of dead time there meant to steer you into focusing on social stats.

Also, now that I've opened up Shinjuku, is there a way to make the train ride free? I was hoping interacting with the ticket machines or desks would give you an option to pay a bigger one-time fee to give you a pass like you have for the main areas but no such luck. It's not much to make the round trip but given how often I like to visit NPCs to see their dialogue it could definitely add up over time and if there's a way to make it free that'd be super.

Also, favorite NPC to talk to so far are the two with the dog near the path to Sojiro's house during the day. That said they waste no time raising some serious foreshadowing on where I think that NPC storyline is going and if I'm right I'm gonna be crushed.

Palace 2 make take a forced extra day, but it's a damn cakewalk, even underleveled. I don't think there are any enemies in there at all without a weak point.
