So I summoned two people for Midir... big mistake as you probably know. They die nearly instantly, leaving me to fight a buffed up boss... but I still beat him! I owe it all to the spells Pestilent Mercury and Great Magic Shield, they helped out a ton.

that must have been a marathon trying to kill a boss that has probably near 20k hp with summons!

SO I downloaded the dlc on my PS4 and now the entire game is super laggy. Like the camera and the environment and enemies all run in normal speed but my character is in slow motion. And it's the same no matter where I go, dlc or not.

Anyone have any idea what's going on or how to fix it? Kinda upset this ruined the entire game currently

is this just for the dlc or are you replaying the whole game? because i'm not so sure if you want to have a very specialized build for these two dlcs that are very difficult and basically deal with some... dark stuff.

this is the first i've ever heard of this, and i played the whole thing on ps4 with zero problems. you don't have a pro, do you? i guess just try reinstalling the whole game and the dlc. maybe rebuild the console's database?

So i finally got it today. Made it to a boss that requires me to fall down very far to get to the arena. Is there another way to go that I've missed, or is this the only path?

of the countless times i've tried to help, i've only succeeded... once? and that one time, we didn't have four people running around like headless chickens, getting one and two-shot while doing negligible damage.

also really don't like it when i leave my sign at the church only to get dragged all the way to midir. there are plenty enough signs right at the entrance to midir's arena, guys!!!! i want to help people actually progress through the dlc!

Yeah there were multiple occasions I just died immediately by tail swipe. Apparently I can fight him when all of his attention is on me but suck otherwise.

I am past the church so I don't know how much is left but I have to be nearing the end.

I think I sort of got my weird lag issues fixed? I think it was a tv issue. Still seems a tad slow but at least it's playable.

But I haven't played any souls at all since ashes dlc and so just coming back and trying to jump right into this, this dlc is pretty tough and I haven't even gotten far yet. I saw some weird intestine looking monster and nope'd the fuck out of there

yuuup

but i guess in a way i also lucked out playing through it the first time as a mage. only then did i discover the wonders of hidden body since i never used that spell in any of the previous games. basically made most of the dlc a stealth assassination game for me, which was a totally new and refreshing experience.

made the boss fights last longer because of less openings for casting spells, but i didn't feel the frustration a lot of people seemed to have just navigating the areas and dealing with enemies.

Is it? I'm not sure where he ranks among bosses in terms of difficulty. I've heard this dlc has one of the hardest bosses in the series but I don't know a whole lot otherwise. I think The only other bosses i beat the first time were yhorm, oceiros, and champion gundyr.

I still haven't beaten friede and the other wolf boss from the first dlc so I gotta go back and do that too.

Demon Prince is pretty high up there

My strategy was just to stay as close to him as possible at all times and dodge toward him on everything, right under his legs. From there he was easy to punish.

Huh, I also didn't have much issue with Demon Prince. Died once to phase 1 and once to phase 2. Great fight, but I thought their tells were pretty easy.

DAmn, I got halflight down to like 2 hp on my first try and I got parried and killed. Didn't even know that was a thing

i think a lot of people got intimidated by the 2v1 and the second phase where the prince has resistances to just about everything. that includes me my first time through!

but yeah, the long wind-ups, the small health pool of phase 1, and the lack of fast, punishing moves for just getting under the boss puts it round the mid tier in terms of difficulty for me.

you know who's hard? the other two bosses in the dlc. cannot fuck up against those two. i do think i would have already killed the final required boss if this were on base ng and not ng+2. gotten it down multiple times to a fourth of the life bar left. i really like it though! should be high up my personal rankings once it's all said and done.

Fought Gael once and did alright, just ran out of estuary too soon, dude has a lot of health. Got him down to like 33% health left, doesn't seem toooo hard just a marathon so can't make too many mistakes.

Fought midir once and he one hit killed me almost instantly with a laser beam so that sucked.

Been practicing ariandel fight to try to go back and beat that. Finally got phase 1 down well, but I just can't get used to phase 3 yet since you get so little practice for it.

Yeah the Ariandel fight is great, but severely hampered by the fact that it's just too damn long.

i fucking adore the friede/ariandel fight. i mastered the first phase to the point that i wasn't getting hit. i also had a really good strategy to get through the second phase without using too many flasks.

and just the presentation for that entire fight is breathtaking. the music for the first phase alone gives me chills.

definitely one of my favorite boss battles.

gael down after a ton of tries with the help of havel's shield. rolled a lot anyway for the second and third phase because your guard will just be broken if you try to block every attack with all that magic flying around.

fun times! gotta move on to persona 5 now though so maybe i'll just get back to midir later.

There's a third phase to Gael? Ugh, it's gonna be like the ariandel fight where you work so hard to get there and have no time to learn the phase.

Gael ain't that hard. His second and third phase are pretty similar, so mastering phase 2 actually helps in more ways than just estus availability, unlike Ariandel. When I beat him, I'd done phase 2 flawlessly, and phase 3 wasn't bad at all. He was really easy to learn for me. Only died to him 6 or 7 times.

oh yeah by "third phase" i don't really mean another transformation or anything. he just gets even more aggressive, adds a couple of unique attacks, and the magic explosions get bigger.

after spending hours on midir ng+2, i switched out my dragonslayer greataxe +5 for the wolf knight's greatsword +5 and just annihilated that dragon. barely used any estus even! i'm fucking stunned at how easy that fight became jesus christ it didn't even get to use its insane laser attack. probably because i was right up its face the entire time.

dudes were right about that strategy. and i wasn't even spec'd for that weapon's quality scaling at all!
