i still need to figure out what this exactly means. i'm not clicking your link! i want to solve this myself. part of the joy in these games.

also managed to advance this npc questline even after i technically "beat" the dlc already. i still need to find what he's looking for. will be spending more time with the dlc to see if i can find everything it has to offer on my own!

i have found multiple illusory walls, and there's this one that leads to a fog wall that i somehow can't go through

i did however find that woman. killed me the first time since i wasn't prepared. my magic beat her miracles the second time though! more lore speculation for me with what she said and what she dropped, and i'm also wondering what happens if i did what she asked of me first before beating the dlc proper and finding her there.

okay i was missing a step. i ran past it when it was on that bridge. pushed it off. fog gate accessible. died a minute in. this looks like it'll be rough. thing is the size of the ancient dragon!

Once you get the pattern down it's not that bad, it's just a matter of execution

meanwhile here I am on Slave Knight Gael's 3rd form getting my face bashed in

I got him to 1/4 health once so far

it always does come down to execution. so far most of the moves are telegraphed enough. i'm just wondering if this will end up being like the case with the first boss where playing it straight like a caster is just a bad idea.

also, it's a good thing i beat the dlc proper before you did with how brazen you are naming bosses without any spoiler bars!

okay so trying to help as a summon against this boss seems like it'll only make it even harder with how much hp it gains.

yeah I would not recommend a summon against the dragon

more health is bad enough but then his easy to predict pattern becomes unpredictable then it just impossible

i haven't done it myself. was trying to help out others to see what's in store for me!

also, just had a pretty successful run playing it like a caster! if i can keep my cool when that insane dark laser attack happens, i think i have a good shot.

I've been fighting that dragon myself now. Seems like the best attack I have against him is crystal soul spear to his face.

my pattern was basically hit the face then run under him rolling through the two physical attacks to the tip of his tail and hit that

then hope he does the slow turn so I can repeat and if not then run up to his face again and not attack and just bait the two physical attacks to roll through and hope for the same thing

definitely one of the best in the whole series up there with Artorias of the Abyss

why does it have to be so fucking dramatic. one hit from dying for us both, zero estus, almost out of fp, and then it does that scary as fuck berserker laser barrage.

nothing else really gets the blood pumping like a hard as hell and super hype boss in a souls game.

goddamn am i sad all over again that this is it.

that's what my strategy boiled down to. i just got 90% of his patterns down so i could dodge almost everything! 5 normal estus was all i needed. again, glass cannon build that basically dies to all its main attacks in two hits!

got back to female npc's hiding place to get her stuff. too bad i didn't kill midir prior. well, there's the next playthrough with my ng+2 character for that.

two mysteries remain. that engraving, which a message basically spelled out for me but i also apparently don't have that item for some insane reason, and dude npc's quest. will try to wrap this up tomorrow.

Makes sense. I do use the moonlight greatsword, so I should try to get more swings in if he is ever close enough. Maybe I should try finding a good, faster magic weapon for that purpose.

i didn't even bother equipping either my +10 crystal estoc or my +10 lightsaber. css was all i needed and 10 ashen estus. it was never not scary though whenever midir covered those distances and swung wildly. really had to get the timing down for all those swipes and bites! and personally, i didn't have any problems with the hitboxes. they felt exactly like they should.

also, got summoned for the first time as a spear. actually won without being prepared for it at all! always thought casters had a hard time in that style of combat.

Midir beated. That satisfying moment when everything clicks and you feel unstoppable is great. Wish his defense wasn't so high, and the hitboxes kinda sucked, but it was a pretty solid fight. Probably like Demon Prince better though.

Also did the PvP boss earlier today. Good idea, lame execution.

Aaaand DLC beated. Trying to help others with the final boss since it's a blast, but the buffs might be a bit much for me :/

Anyway, this was way better than Ariandel. Artorias and Brume Tower are still better DLCs imo, but this'd probably be third.

Definitely a high quality DLC. Right up there with Artorias of the Abyss and The Old Hunters.

Also Slave Knight Gael is probably one of the best boss fights in the entire soulsborne series.

got a hint for the solution to the humanity riddle. so i was on the right track after all! i just wouldn't have known to try using the chameleon spell out in the swamp to get the right "disguise". thought the ringed knight was it since you can actually get on top of the pedestal of the broken statue right next to the ladder. also found the branch in the swamp way earlier before i got to the thought process of taking on an identity.

led to the place i already scoped earlier with the binoculars, so i was right in thinking it's linked to lapp's quest. unfortunately, i made the dumb mistake of randomly checking one of shine's few spoiler bars early in the topic, thinking i was safe, only to be spoiled on the guy's identity.

couple of giveaways though! his sitting stance and his talk of wrongdoing and the most obvious one being that same voice actor!

There's also a Ringed Knight in one of the corners. Both drop titanite slabs!

Also, for anyone who wants to farm covenants, just invade the Dreg Heap. Everyone dies without you even doing anything lmao.

wait really? i'll have to check that again later! thinking of respecing to try out some of the dlc weapons and fighting as a spear. i either win and get better or i lose badly and basically help someone progress!
