Pre-show: Steamboat d. Afa to retain (58)

Steele and Edwards kick it off with a decent match. Edwards is able to outsmart Steele and work around his superior power, but finally gets caught trying to sneak a chair shot for the DQ. (43) Baba and Tsuruta are out to flaunt their belts again, but they're interrupted by the Harts! The Harts want a shot, but All Japan says they're a thousand years too early to challenge them. (49)

Speaking of All Japan, Survivors are able to put away Saito and Misawa. Someday those two will be taken seriously, but not today. (52) Atlas gives us some bodybuilding tips. (44) AKIO gets a (relatively) big win over Garea! (52)

Bruno is ticked. He won that pre-show battle royal and still wasn't on the card at Mania! That's why he took out Steamboat- he apparently has to remind people he's relevant. (71) Our main event is Pair of Kings vs. Future Perfect for two spots in Feast or Fired! Future Perfect get the upper hand, but Style and Substance come to ringside! Windham engages them on the outside, but that distracts everybody while Lawler hits Hennig with brass knuckles for the win! (75) Pair of Kings are going to Feast or Fired, and Kings love feasting! (65)

Pre-show: Steamboat/Atlas d. Samoans (71) but Bruno ran in on Steamboat afterwards (58)

Money and Power want to explain their attack on Flair and KVE. It's all about the money! They're towards the top of WWF these days, but Money and Power should have no problem beating them for some nice fat purses! In fact, it'd draw even more money to make it two singles matches, so that's their proposal for Feast or Fired! (66) In a Feast or Fired preview, Snuka and Jones are able to defeat the freshly added Pair of Kings and the pairing of Koloff and Sheik. (70)

Baba and Tsuruta take out KVE backstage! Doesn't look like he'll make it for tonight's main event! (54) We get another FoF preview as Santana barely gets by Afa Reigns. (74) Future Perfect are upset about Style and Substance costing them the FoF opportunity, but Hennig has a match, so that's their focus at the moment. (56) Hennig proceeds to put on a clinic with King David, but just can't get that big breakout win he needs. (83)

Flair was supposed to tag with KVE tonight against All Japan, but they took him out backstage. Luckily, Flair found somebody else who's ready to kick some All Japan heinie- NWA Champ Don Muraco! The Rac comes out ready for battle. (94) Muraco and Flair go to war with Hansen and Rich. The brawl gets out of hand (really, it was never quite under control to start with) and all four men wind up brawling on the outside! Referee Dick Woehrle calls for a double DQ. (90) Andre comes out to get involved, but Funk cuts him off from behind! Funk has a proposal. It'd be a darned shame if their rematch was as soiled with controversy as this match here....so why not make it No DQ? Andre is dumb enough to accept this offer from the leader of the heel stable. (79)

Style and Substance feel they should've been in the running for Feast or Fired, so that's why they made a statement by taking out Future Perfect! Future Perfect don't accept that and want a match at FoF. (43) In the last qualifier for FoF, Edwards gets a big win over Garea! (46)

"In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat," Bret and Owen Hart defeat Mitsuhara Misawa and Hiro Saito. (37) Maybe now Baba and Tsuruta will take their challenge seriously! (32) Atlas beats Fuji. (56)


Steamboat should be mad that Bruno is after him, but he's instead excited! This is presumably leading to a match, and he's looking forward to stepping in the ring with one of the greats....and beating him to retain the IC Title. (64) Afa beats Steele in a decent main event. (57) The other FoF competitors are on notice! (50)

Muraco comes out to start the show, but Rich jumps him on the ramp and lays him out! (85) Instead, Money and Power make short work of Steele and Garea. (65) Flair and KVE interrupt the post-match celebration to accept their challenges for Feast or Fired! (72)

Santana goes over Edwards in a FoF preview, but the man from the future gets in some offense. (56) Bruno makes fun of Steamboat being excited to get his butt kicked, and Steamboat clarifies that he will have no qualms beating a legend to keep the IC Title. (69) We get a FOUR WAY TAG MATCH WHOA. King David and Afa team up and prevail over Pair of Kings, Snuka/Jones, and Koloff/Sheik in hot preview action. (76) They almost turn on each other after the match, though. (66)

Our main event is Andre and Atlas against Funk and Hansen! Unfortunately, the bad guys prevail after judicious use of a chair. (82) Hansen and Funk mock Andre for agreeing to a No DQ match! There will be no need to hold back at Feast or Fired! (96)

Saito and Misawa are in the ring talking about how All Japan is about to prove the Harts don't deserve a shot. Santana doesn't think so, because he's got their back tonight. (35) Six-man tag action ensues, and Santana indeed leads the Harts to victory over Baba/Tsuruta/AKIO. Bret spells "owned lopen" with his finger. (62) Snuka and Jones hope they can both get briefcases in FoF, but they will go through each other if they have to! (64) The New Samoans still work here! They beat Steele and Garea. (56)

Hennig doesn't want Martel interfering with the main event tonight. Martel doesn't trust Hennig either, so they are just gonna sit and keep an eye on each other the rest of the night. Riveting. (48) Outside, there's a commotion: Steamboat and Bruno are brawling! (65) Anyway, the main event is Windham vs. Schultz. It's a decent match, but Windham is able to put away the sidekick. (68)

OVERALL: 64

We kick off with non-title action, as Andre puts away Afa Reigns after a quick but fun match. (86) Hansen is however lying in wait! He goes for the LARIATOOO but Andre intercepts and throws him to the ground! (77)

Baba and Tsuruta are backstage, unfazed by this failed attempt at softening up Andre. Their job is to retain the tag titles, and the Harts pose no threat to that job! (57) Paul Jones goes over Luis Edwards in a preview of Feast or Fired. (64) Pair of Kings have an idea for FoF they want to discuss with Santana and Snuka. Turns out the idea is for Sheik and Koloff to jump those guys from behind when they come out to talk! (52)

Santana is still reeling from the sneak attack, but he has a match with Funk now because I changed plans multiple times and accidentally doublebooked him. Funk gets the win, but Tito makes him work for it. (82) All these peasants are worried about Feast or Fired, but King David knows he will earn a briefcase, and he knows it will give him what he wants! He's the king, y'know. (90)

Flair and KVE may be friends, but it turns out that's not enough to prevail over Money and Power's tag experience. But this weekend, it'll be one on one! (times two) (80) Muraco calls out Rich! He wants Rich at Feast or Fired, and he'll put the NWA Title on the line to get him! Rich is only too happy to accept. (97)

Sammartino and Sheik aren't teaming up tonight because they're friends. They're teaming up to put the hurt on their opponents. And after they've done that, Bruno will be your new IC Champ, and Sheik will be sitting pretty with a briefcase. They can agree on that. (52) Speaking of Feast or Fired, Snuka and Jones withstand a valiant effort by Afa and Edwards to get the win. (70) Pair of Kings come out after the match, offering mocking congratulations to Snuka and Jones....but Pair of Kings is the team to beat in FoF! (59)

Baba and Tsuruta lure out the Harts, and Misawa and Saito help ambush them. Dastardly! (20) Martel is able to avenge his partner with a pinfall over Hennig. (65) Schultz comes out, Windham comes out for the save, and the two teams brawl to the back. (34)

As hyped at the top of the show, Bruno and Sheik are taking on Steamboat and Santana! The match is a bit of a disappointment, and the heels get the win. (71)

In what I think is a first for me, I withdrew a contract offer the guy was ready to sign! I was trying to bring in the Road Warriors, but Animal decided he was too big for me (probably because GCW went up in size?) and I decided I didn't feel like having Hawk recruit a new partner. I think at some point they should give us a way to negotiate with both halves of a tag team because I feel like I always get stuck with Eddie Edwards or Charlie Haas or Marty Jannetty.

WWF PRESENTS FEAST OR FIRED
Sunday, Week 4, April 1984

Pre-show: Samoans d. Survivors, Steele/Garea (63)

Funk cuts a promo, flanked by Hansen. Tonight, the WWF and NWA titles are coming back to All Japan, and all will be right with the world. (79)

We kick off the in-ring action with Feast or Fired! For those playing the home game, it involves Afa, Gilbert, Koloff, Lawler, Snuka, DVE, Edwards, Jones, Sheik, and Santana. Edwards actually manages to sneak away with the first briefcase in the confusion! Snuka gets the next, springboarding off the ropes to grab it before Koloff. Afa gets the third after clearing the ring, and King David gets the final briefcase after a string of finishers! (70) Ray Stevens comes out to moderate the opening of the prizes, but DiBiase interrupts! He has a vested interest in waiting until All-Star Wrestling to open them....plus, it'll generate ratings! Stevens sees the wisdom of this plan after DiBiase slips him some cash. (55)

It's tag title time. Bret and Owen give a good account of themselves, but come up a hair short against Baba and Tsuruta. (49) Bruno is getting ready for his IC Title match, and bumps into Atlas. Atlas says Steamboat is gonna beat him, and gets shoved into a wall. (55) Meanwhile, AKIO has jumped Andre from behind! Andre's able to fight him off, though. (58)

DiBiase prevails over KVE with a bit of help from Williams. (77) Money and Power brag about how successful they are. (62) Steamboat's speed prevails over Sammartino's power, allowing Steamboat to hang on to the IC Title. (79) Rich comes out and riles up the crowd for a bit, claiming that the Yankees are the real reason he turned on America. Muraco comes out and I dunno insinuates things about Rich's sexuality or something. (100) Muraco gets the big win after countering into the Rac Bottom! (79)

Style and Substance are gonna show Future Perfect how WINNERS wrestle. (45) Or not, because Future Perfect is able to beat 'em. (71) Misawa and Saito also try their luck jumping Andre, with no more success. (38) Flair and Williams put on a solid match, with Flair going over while KVE runs interference on DiBiase. (83) Flair celebrates by strutting and wooing and elbow dropping random objects. (100)

It's time for the main event: Andre and Funk, no DQ for the WWF Title! Funk brings in some chairs and stuff, but Andre is able to fight him off....until Hansen comes down to ringside! The distraction allows Funk to get the upper hand as Hansen gets in the ring. LARIATOOOOOO on Funk! Hansen drops a few elbows on his stablemate for good measure! Andre is confused, but finishes the job to get the win. (88) Funk recovers in a daze, as the rest of All Japan pours out from the back....and they hit a finisher train on Funk! (94)

Wk. 1, 5/84

Pre-show: Windham d. Koloff (72)

All Japan are gathered in the ring. Funk is sure there is some sort of misunderstanding, so he wants an apology from Hansen and all will be well. Hansen just stares at him. Funk wants an explanation. Hansen stares. Funk DEMANDS an apology RIGHT NOW or Hansen's out of the group! Hansen finally says that he's sorry Funk couldn't cut it as champ without them. All Japan needs a strong leader, and that ain't Funk. Funk is shocked, and appeals to each member of All Japan in turn...but nobody is on his side here. Realization sinks in...right as the whole stable jumps Funk and beats him down. (60)

Hennig puts away Sheik despite a bit of showboating along the way. (70, Hennig's Cocky Face gets an 89) KVE is on the mic...he got sidetracked by Money and Power, and that's probably why he's been losing....but things still aren't settled with Tommy Rich, whom he wants at TRIANGLE TRAUMA! (54) Santana goes over Fuji in a decent throwaway match. (67) Fink gets Andre's thoughts on the All Japan situation. It's not how he wanted to retain, but he can only feel so sorry for those guys fighting amongst themselves. (68)

Muraco and Steamboat team up! The champs are able to squeak by Pair of Kings in a barnburner. (86) Snuka and Jones talk about Snuka winning a briefcase, and getting to open it tonight. (67) Our main event match tonight is Flair and Bruno. Flair's got the legend on the ropes...but here comes Dynamite Eddie Williams! Williams levels Flair with the coal miner's glove for a blatant DQ! (75)

The REAL main event is the opening of the FoF cases! Ray Stevens is your host. One by one, he calls down the winners to ringside. Afa gets....an IC Title shot! Edwards gets.....a tag title shot with the partner of his choice! Snuka gets....FIRED ZOMG! That means....King David, come on down! King David comes out onto the stage, looking slightly chargrinned and sans briefcase. The KING gets what he wants, and what he wanted this time was money! Therefore, he'd like to introduce you to the new #1 Contender to the NWA Title....Ted DiBiase! Money Money Money and AHAHAHA and everybody having a price ensues. (56, DiBiase's High Society gets 90) With this, Money and Power have all the cards! DiBiase is going to win the NWA Title, Williams is going to get revenge on Flair, and we'll see some REAL Money and Power around here! (83)

Snuka is back one last time to bid a tearful farewell to Paul Jones and the WWF fans. But FoF has dictated that he must leave! (63) We get a #2 Contender match...either Pair of Kings or Future Perfect will join Edwards/partner and All Japan at TRIANGLE TRAUMA for the tag titles! ...That's the idea, but the Wild Samoans run down and wreck the match right when it's getting good! (62)

The Harts are bummed that they couldn't win the belts, but they're gonna keep learning and keep fighting. (38) The low guys on the All Japan totem pole discuss Funk's expulsion, deciding he deserved it. (33) Sheik puts away Atlas. (62)

Afa is going to destroy Steamboat and take the IC Title! Steamboat doesn't agree. They yell at each other a bit, until Ray Stevens comes out, reminding them that they must contend with a third man at Triangle Trauma! And we're gonna find out that third guy now with a contendership match! (55) It'll be a triangle match itself. Santana comes out, as does Bruno. There's a bit of a pause, and then the Washington Post March blares throughout the arena! HOOOOOOOOO! HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN has come to WWF! Bruno controls a lot of the match, but Duggan catches him with a taped fist for the win. (76, Duggan's Patriot gets 86)

Pre-show: The Mysterious Bolo d. Atlas (70)

Hennig is, oddly, in the ring with Pair of Kings. They wanna know where the Samoans get off, wrecking the #2 Contender Match on Wrestling Challenge! Albano informs them that the Samoans are simply tired of being overlooked, and decided to make their opinions known of the tag division. (71) Turns out that Windham was absent because he was getting ready for a match with King David! DVE gets the win, but not easily. (76) Sheik fills six minutes with semi-coherent ranting. (46)

In case you missed Wrestling Challenge, Steamboat is here to introduce you to his future opponent, Jim Duggan! They're friendly, but won't hold back with each other (or Afa) at Triangle Trauma! (80) Duggan makes his point by beating AKIO. (66) All Japan want to know who their opponents are (besides Edwards). Stevens is working on the situation, but Edwards is going to pick a partner tomorrow night. (55)

Fink interviews Jones, who is still sad about Snuka. (47) Flair and Williams put on a great match, but it is once again ruined when Bruno runs in! Bruno lays out Williams in revenge for last week, inadvertantly giving Williams a DQ win. (80) DiBiase crows about "winning" the NWA Title shot, and calls out Muraco. There's ten thousand bucks in it for Muraco if he's willing to lay down! Muraco is about to unleash some very PG terminology when Tito Santana comes out. How dare DiBiase make a mockery of the title like this! Buying the shot was bad enough, but this is a joke! (84) The unlikely team of KVE and Funk takes on Hansen and Rich in our main event. Funk plays the dutiful partner until the new leadership of All Japan starts controlling the match. Funk decides he's had enough, and leaves...but Andre is on the ramp! Andre thinks Funk should take his lumps...so he gets in the ring, just to take a finisher and a pin. (79)

Overall: 80 SUCCESS

Edwards is picking his tag partner! He says that Sheik has potential to be WWF Champ someday! But for now, they are gonna break All Japan's backs and make them humble. (38) Hennig beats Meng in a good match. (63) The Harts and Santana discuss DiBiase and how out of control he's gotten. (38)

Hennig got his win earlier, but Lawler is able to beat Windham with a handful of tights! (70) Duggan starts talking when Afa runs in! But Steamboat makes the save! (60) Paul Jones is going one on one with THE MYSTERIOUS BOLO. It's not *obviously* Jimmy Snuka in a mask....but it's Jimmy Snuka in a mask. The "newcomer" puts away Jones with a splash! (68) Jones is impressed, and still getting over the loss of Snuka...so he suggests they team up! "Bolo" says nothing, but shakes his hand. (50)

Duggan is here! He talks about being happy to be here and excited to fight for the IC Title. Afa Reigns interrupts him- nobody is taking him seriously, but that's gonna be their downfall! (65) Steamboat beats AKIO in a solid IC Title defense for no real reason. (70) Muraco tells Santana to stay out of his business. He wasn't gonna take DiBiase's bribe, and he doesn't need help. Santana seems doubtful of Muraco's character. (70)

King David takes down Paul Jones in a hot match. (75) Afterwards, the king grabs a mic. His brother has forgotten about him, setting up matches without him! Kevin is due for a reminder who the strongest Von Erich is. (64) The unlikely team of Bruno and Flair attempt to co-exist against Money and Power in our main event...and ultimately fail to do so, with DiBiase pinning Flair after Bruno turns on him and goes after Williams. (76) Funk calls out Andre...to tell him that he doesn't like him, and doesn't want his help. All he wants from Andre is the WWF Title! (84)
