Well I'm pretty loose on calling guys for that. Like I mean you could just have a guy who's called an assassin and never exhibits any assassinlike qualities in his game/show/whatever and I wouldn't get on it. But Dexter... just happens to kill people. There's nothing assassinlike about him aside from that.

Dexter's more of a serial killer with morals, which is kind of how Light starts out. But then he starts killing good people who just happen to stand in his way. Then he kills almost without discrepancy. He pretty much loses it, the magnificent bastard.

When I think assassin, I think of mercenaries for hire- people who's job it is to kill, not people who kill as a hobby.

Dexter is a killer who targets specific people (which assassins do) and is guided by his morals (in place of a contract, order, etc.) Assassin enough for me.

I am historically relaxed on my rulings on what makes a character whatever the theme of the mountain is, mostly because to reach 100 of something I have to be a little lenient. All the winners are basically iconic portrayals of their character type so far though, we'll see if this time differs.

Still wondering why you said what you did about Thane, as he is actually the classical definition of a "true assassin". Shadow was too, for those that complained about him. You even have to pay him to join you in that game.

The only thing that's arguably un-assassin of him is you don't ever hire him in game to do specific hits. For the party he's like a hired bodyguard but I mean... there are assassins that do that too. Skulk in the shadows and kill people who go after their lord or whatever.
