I never liked Omastar ever since I accidentally got it instead of Kabutops in way back in Red. It's not particularly cool in design and it's in the RU tier so it's only slightly useful. Typically adding rock to something makes it less cool and I've never really understood why all the fossil Pokemon have to be rock types. If we could play a game that took place thousands of years ago when Kabuto, Omanyte, and Aerodactyl would they still be Rock types, because that would be dumb. I have this complaint about all the fossil pokemon, but it doesn't necessarily hurt them because I really like a lot of them. Regardless, I don't have much to say about Omastar, so I went on a short fossil rant. Deal with it.

I thought Porygon2 was a good evolution for Porygon since Porygon was kind of what I thought of as older graphics and Porygon2 was like a graphical upgrade. But PorygonZ was pretty unnecessary. Porygon2 even outdoes PorygonZ in a lot of ways. The Pokedex entries suggest that Porygon2 had a virus and that's why it became PorygonZ. Do any other Pokemon have something bad happen to them and then evolve (without too much stretching like Vigoroth, Slowpoke, or Surskit)? It's not like a normal pokemon ever gets a cold and that's the evolution. The whole concept just seemed pretty lame to me. It would almost have made more sense for it to be the other way around in that Porygon got a Virus and then had a disc with Avast on it installed and that evolved it further. It may have even made more sense as an alternative evolution to Porygon rather than an actual evolution to Porygon2. Probably one of the least necessary new evolutions of Gen 4, and one of the biggest pains in the ass to evolve. Not that you weren't going to trade it twice anyway, but then you have to rely on your friend either having the DD that they're willing to give up or being willing to trade back and forth twice. And of course I can't comment on anything anime related thanks to lol seizures.

I disagree with Porygon-Z being

one of the least necessary new evolutions of Gen 4

on the basis that there are several that are much, much worse.

He should have been a more traditional evolution called Porygon3, whose stats didn't go down in some places after evolving. Then maybe people would actually use him and care about him.

It's the only way for it to happen without factoring in immunity-giving abilities, since it's the only type combo where the immunity is mutual on both sides.

That's exactly why he's unnecessary though. They could have done something kind of silly and introduced him in Gen 6 with a 3DS graphics gimmick, but that was probably thinking too far ahead.

I think so... It's one of the best type combinations to cover its own weaknesses, too. Ghost blocks Fighting and Normal blocks Ghost. It's only weak to Dark.

I guess hint narrowed it down a bit far, didn't it. Kind of sucks that they botched up Maril's evolution so badly. I would have never thought that a watermouse would evolve into a water Easter bunny, but this is where we are. I also never really understood why Azurill managed to be a normal type, but I guess that's more or less irrelevant here. At least it managed UU placement, which is probably as good as you could expect from it. Admittedly it's the most tolerable of the Pikachu rehashes since it, you know, actually managed to be different. The only really fond memory that I have of the Marill line is that I remember going to the mall when the first Marill promo card was released and since they shipped way too many to our Borders I got 15 of them since they didn't know what they were doing. I still have a few in the shrink wrap today with some crappy insert about it. Azumarill is the lowest ranked Pokemon that I would give a 3/10.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot about how Azurill can have a sex change when it evolves. Kind of a cool tidbit, but seriously, what the hell?

Yeah, I didn't care much for goths when I was in high school and I sure as hell don't now. I know a lot of people liked it when it was first revealed, but I wasn't one of them. Why isn't it dark/psychic? Why did we have so many pure psychic lines in B/W? Why can't it learn Cut? I really can't wait to start writing positive reviews. Being so negative is bumming me out.

The most blatant ripoff of Mew doesn't do much for me. There's probably some lore or something about how Pink=Emotions, but couldn't they have at least made it a novel color? Like I said in the Uxie writeup, we just didn't need three more psychic Pokemon. To date, there is only one less Psychic-type legendary than there are fully evolved Ghost types (14:15, assuming I can count... probably can't...). That's not a fantastic indicator since in the GSC days we had 4 psychic legendaries and 2 ghost families, but still, this seems really odd to me. Not that this is necessarily a slight against Mesprit in and of itself, but it just shows how unnecessary it is. It was also a roaming Pokemon for seemingly no reason since it's siblings weren't, and Cresselia already filled that niche in that generation. At the very least it should have sat still in Platinum since Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres were roamers in that game. Battlewise, Legendaries don't mean much to me. I'm so in the habit of not using them in the games that I rarely bother when I'm playing on Shoddy Battle, but the fact that it was in UU tier in Gen 4 and it's in RU for Gen 5 just shows how much psychic types have fallen from their former godhood. At least Azelf shines a little brighter since it's easily the best of the three.

Exploud, I dare you to find a way to make me more apathetic about you. It's design does absolutely nothing for me, but at the same time I don't hate it. It reminds me of an ugly purple Kirby. It's NU, it's normal type, I dunno there's just nothing to like or dislike about it. I guess it's kind of annoying that catching a Whismir can be a pain if your plan of action is to use Sing or Grasswhistle to put it to sleep, but it balances out that you could use it against Zubats to not get confused by Supersonic. See I literally have more to say about an ability than a Pokemon, we're done here.
