That's what Stu does best. He also has a great dry/sarcastic sense of humor. If he quit and started his own show I'd probably follow him and not even bother with Glenn anymore.

I'm usually pretty light on people who obviously misspeak (because absolutely EVERYONE does it) but that seems like an incredibly stupid error to make...

There's just SO much in here to discuss. So many different angles in play here. My main take-away from it was really the arrogance of the man. The idea that he says "I have to personally approve every kill" might come across as responsibility to some, but I don't think you can take credit for "taking responsibility" if you keep everything a secret and don't actually take responsibility when things go wrong (as they often have).
To me, it's more of a "I know better than everyone else" deal, which just strikes me as crazy.
The level of technology we have is scary now, though. The idea that the President of the United States can personally approve every war casualty is ****ing nuts.

A great post that lays out the basics of the Austrian argument for austerity.
Excellent post. I wonder if Krugman would agree with the statement: "money is fiction." Bernanke has already come out and said gold is not money, so I think he would agree with that statement also.

Congratulations to SuperNiceDog, Guru Winner, who was smart enough to pick your 7 time champion, Link.
An interesting George Soros speech about the future of the Euro. His claim: The Eurozone will inevitably break up unless Germany is willing to abandon imposing austerity on the peripheral Eurozone countries.

Speaking as someone who participated in the National Geography Bee, I always thought that homeschoolers had an unfair advantage, since their parents could obviously divert entire lesson plans to help them study for the event. Plus the National Geographic Society had a backwards system where they would pay for teachers' hotel rooms, but not the kids' parents, so the homeschoolers' parents got to come for free, while everyone else's parents had to pay (in my case at least, my teachers had jack **** to do with my successes there, which made this rule infuriating for my parents.)

My bracket wasn't good enough to beat SuperNiceDog's in the GameFAQS Rivalry Rumble. Congrats! This is Yesmar.
I was gone for a week, but you guys seemed to miss my point concerning the Chinese buyout of AMC. I think we shouldn't care that AMC was bought by a Chinese company, but rather we just shouldn't want to support a Chinese company. We have no problem with Chinese people supporting them financially. We would just rather support companies that create domestic jobs. The acquisition itself is not an issue.
Personally, I try to only buy American-made stuff as much as I can. Obviously it's pretty much impossible to do this with EVERYTHING, but who said there couldn't be a grey area? http://americansworking.com/

Not gonna get into it with you that much, but this is absolutely NOT the standard doctrine of austrian economics, libertarianism, whatever. Belief in efficient and free markets trumps nationalism. "Buy American" means "allow yourself to accept inferior or higher priced goods due to nationalism"

Hm. Shouldn't it be a pretty high priority though? I mean, shouldn't investing in our own economy rather than someone else's be pretty important?
Not really. The better product is the better product. Are Americans inherently better people than Chinese? If the answer is no, then why should we prioritize investing in the American economy over the Chinese one?

I mean, if I go by what you say, I might as well just give up and shop at ****ty ass places like Wal-Mart and Gamestop just to save myself a buck.
Pretty much, yeah. Although money isn't the only factor. Stores also offer a quality of experience, customer service, etc. I shop at Wal-Mart sometimes because the prices are great, but I prefer Albertsons because it's cleaner and less crowded, even though the prices are higher.

I don't know if I can agree with that. I respect the free market and people's rights to choose how/where to spend their money, but I can't encourage shopping at certain places or buying certain goods that will invoke poor economical consequences.

I don't support businesses just because they're American, though. I support them because those businesses keep the money in our country. Wal-Mart is an American business, but China gets billions from them a year. And I'm sure China will get billions from AMC now too.
Sure you can get shoes cheap from a name brand that hires overseas sweatshop workers, but wouldn't it be better to invest in shoes that were made with American jobs?

Because American jobs stimulate our economy and Chinese jobs do the exact opposite? We're Americans under the American economy, so shouldn't this matter?
