For one inning, God-Mode Verlander with an arsenal of unhittable pitches somehow reverted into Must-Throw-Triple-Digits Verlander.

He got excited and kept dialing his fastballs up to 98/99 MPH, and lost control of them, when the whole game he'd been absolutely incredible keeping them in 95/96 range and locating them expertly, and mixing in the breaking ball and the changeup.
