Zell was one of my most hated characters when I was a teenager. I thought he was an annoying brat and laughed whenever Squall or Seifer put him in his place.

I have more respect for him these days, but he still doesn't have much substance.

Awesome dude. There's a reason Squall, Rinoa, Zell was my main party.

I was also pretty stoked to find out that was the party of choice in the strategy guide.

He's not the worst or even the second worst character in the game, but he is pretty annoying and falls short of ever being enjoyable, but he seems a bit better than he is by comparison to some of his buddies, and at least he takes the ludicrous brokenness of the game mechanics to their absurd conclusion with his auto-win of every single battle ever for any player that doesn't mind tapping the same two button sequences forever.
