So my economics teacher got mad when none of us knew the answer to this.

He asked us what it's called when I use up energy "like when i'm shouting at you right now." He said it's a state of "E" (meaning it state of something that starts with the letter E). Anyone know what it is?

This is an economics class, not a physics class, and i'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about. He wanted to know what state energy is used when it is expended or something. Used was a term I used to describe it; that's not what he said.

It's not expenditure and it's not exhilarating.

Exothermic? It's when a substance loses energy over a period of time. Endothermic is when something takes in energy.

(or at least heat, anyways, I'm just a sophomore chem student ;_;)

Well, in the context of only looking at one system, expend can also mean expel, can't it? Dumb way of phrasing it though.
