This implies this is part of some sort of giant marketing push by a giant multimedia corporation to get people to buy tickets and keep the movie at the top of public mindshare for weeks longer than it deserves. Which would be ridiculous.

I assume you're referencing Morbius because that's what they did last time.

Again, I have not seen this yet because I'm not confusing Sony by giving them money for this...

But I love me some C and D horror movies. I believe you do too. For me, there 100% is a wraparound effect where some movies can become so-bad-they're-good for one reason or another.

Everything I've read so far seems to say that this thing only inspires apathy, which (to me) is the worst of all worlds. It's bad in all the non-fun ways and just cripplingly nothing in all the others. And yeah this one definitely has a bigger spotlight on it because it is Marvel adjacent and Sony wants these to become a thing. It's Sony's fetch.

I just enjoy me some good schadenfreude at a dumb corpo's expense.

Genny and I both have AMC membership because we watch a lot of movies, so checking this out didn't cost anything extra. But yeah, I watched nearly 120 horror films last year alone (just ones released last year too). I would say that for me though it is difficult to make a "so bad it's good" movie. The large majority of films that I'd say are bad are simply bad, and others are in this tier like Morbius and Web, just eh. There were like 3 times I laughed because something was actually bad enough to inspire it, but it's a 2 hour film so that's not much. Sony tried the laughably bad approach to Morbius because of the Morbin' Time meme and the general response to the movie, but I found Morbius to just be a pretty forgettable 90s vampire movie, not even "bad" per se. It's probably a better movie than Madame Web pretty easily though. This one was almost total apathy with nothing to take away.

But again, I deem bad as like actually torturing me. I know some people (especially critics) praised Skinamarink for example last year but when I think of bad, I think of that. Pure unadulterated torture for like 90 minutes.
