G1 Learner's permit, can drive class G vehicles (cars, vans, small trucks) accompanied by any fully licensed driver of at least 4 years.

after 12 months (8 months if you take a driving class), you can get your G2 - can drive Class G vehicles without accompanied drivers, but subject to certain conditions (... basically more strict about drinking, seatbelts, and the number of young passengers you can have at night )

another 12 months you can get your full G

then there's the A/B/C/D/E/F for buses/trucks/etc stuff
