Hmmm. This conversation has made me realize that several of my favorite FF games have something in common: their endgame/postgame content is pretty accessible at expected endgame development. FFX is the main exception, and is also the one I've done the least endgame content in.

If you decide to play LotR:tTA just know that hard mode isn't anything remotely resembling balanced. On the one hand the enemies are ridiculously stronger and tougher compared to you, but on the other hand they give out a lot more XP.

Hmmm.

615,000 dead, incl. 270,000 people under age 75.
32,400,000 infections. I can't find national statistics by age, but California reports over 80% of cases in people aged 18-69. I'll go with 80%.
Somewhere between 20%-35% long haul symptoms of varying severity, regardless of age or comorbidities. Let's conservatively assume 25% rate, of which 10% are serious.

(32400000 - 615000) * 0.8 * 0.25 * 0.1 = 1270000 + 270000 = at least 1.54 million people directly removed from the workforce by covid, and could easily be millions more if serious long haul symptoms are more prevalent. There will also be significant indirect impact on potential workers who have instead assumed caretaker duties for impacted family. Among working people, white collar workers are less likely to be impacted due to lower exposure, since these jobs are easier to perform from home.

Yeah, I'm not surprised the service industries can't find enough workers.

But the entire concept of limits in calculus is that a variable can approach a number without ever becoming that number. There would theoretically be an infinite amount of numbers between whatever 0.999 is and 1.
Not quite. Because there are infinite 9's, I can prove that no matter how small a number you take away from 1, the result is strictly less than 0.999.... If it's impossible to take any amount from 1 and end up greater than or equal to 0.999..., then it must be the case that 0.999... is 1.

(those of you who have done proofs with limits, this is a pretty trivial epsilon delta proof).

0.999... is fundamentally 1. You can evaluate the fact that it is 1 by summing the infinite series that its digits represent.

Fundamentally, "0.999..." is just a relatively confusing way of writing "1". Kind of like how 2 * 1/2 is a way of writing 1, but less straightforward.

Infinitesimals aren't algebraic numbers and you can't use them in inequality or equality statement statements. That's like saying infinity = infinity. It doesn't make any sense.
Fair. I'm not well versed in them, just aware they exist. I assume there's some sort of parallel construction you could do with them if you wanted to?

0.999... <= 1 <= 1

So, arguably, 1. Or you can get infintesimals involved, but on the real numbers the answer is either 1 or undefined, depending on how you define "between".

In the sense that "post-game" means content intended to be completed at power levels well beyond what is needed for completing the game, FFX has a massive amount of post-game content. It's not for everyone though--postgame FFX plays very differently than storyline FFX, and there are some notoriously obnoxious minigames gating much of the content.

No. They knew that Kimahri would be used differently by different people, and that some potential paths could lead to wildly different power levels than other paths. The boss auto-scales because that's the best way to handle a character who can range anywhere from easily your weakest party member to easily your strongest.

Also even without voter ID, DMVs should be open till midnight. Never understood the DMV hours when most people work then.
DMV hours are another example of a subtle barrier. The less wealth you have and the less stable your employment is, the harder it is for you to take time away from normal work hours to visit the DMV. Rich office worker? Just let your boss know you'll be in a little late on Tuesday (or whatever). You might not even have to mark it as time off if you're salaried and/or can just stay late that day or another day that week. Poor worker in the service industry? Good luck not getting fired. edit: oh, and even if you have a sympathetic boss and can arrange a half day off or whatnot, can you actually afford the lost income?

It's not the requirement of a photo ID in a vacuum. It's that requirement alongside various policies and practices that put barriers in the way of certain groups of people obtaining IDs. In particular, if it's not possible to readily obtain a photo ID at no expense, this is a de facto poll tax and clearly unconstitutional.
