Basically people like Persona 5 in spite if it being a turn-based JRPG, not BECAUSE it's one. So it's definitely not a compelling argument for the value of turn-based combat.

If you seriously think this, you're not paying attention to a big chunk of the Persona fanbase.

You clearly dislike turn-based combat, and that's fine. But why is it so hard to accept that other people find value in it?

At an extremely rough estimate, carrying $5000 of extra debt for three additional months at a 20% annual interest rate will cost ~$250-$300 extra. Changes in LASIK pricing could certainly outweigh that, and that figure is low enough that replacement glasses costs could easily be significant.

Considerations like that are part of what I had in mind when I said we didn't have enough data to give proper advice.

Not really enough info to give a great response. That said, I believe one of the downsides of lasik is that it takes more time for night vision to adapt, so a potential benefit of reducing debt now and doing lasik later is that daytime hours will be longer.

Rogue One is a prequel to 4, but (as with many prequels) is arguably best watched after watching the original film. The logic of machete order treats episode 1 the same way in regards to episodes 2-3. 7 last because it's the start of a completely new story arc that will be continued in 8.

Your combo relies on 4 specific cards, which is much harder to assemble in an opening hand of 7 out of a deck of 60.

Although to be fair, the original version of the Channel-Fireball deck only had 8 cards and was thus super consistent. That's why we have minimum deck sizes now.

Memory Jar is the coolest banning. I'll have to think about what my favorite combo is.

Turn 1: Black Lotus, Ancestral Recall, Ancestral Recall, Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus, AR x3, BL, AR x3, BL, AR x3, BL, AR x3, BL, AR x2--at this point you've drawn all but 2 cards in your deck--BL x6, AR x18 pointed at your opponent, GG first turn. Much more consistent since the entire deck is just 40 Ancestral Recalls and 20 Black Lotuses.

(This is why we have the 4 card limit rule now)

Their gameplay for the last like 4 games have been pretty brainless (excluding the MMOs I guess cuz I never played those). When other JRPGs started to incorporate pretty complex battle systems that challenged the players, FF somehow got worse in its complexity as it went along. No clue what they're even trying to do anymore outside of making a game that's all looks and no substance

Oh please. FF hasn't been challenging since FF6, at least in terms of storyline play. All of the FF battle systems have plenty of depth and complexity to dig into if you want, along with optional content that actually provides some decent challenges.

H-known H-Unknown
H-Unknown H-Known

These are not separate cases, so you're double counting HH.

Then why are the two tails outcomes different

Because ordering matters before the choice in that case.

If you want, you can frame the problem in a way such that H-Known H-Unknown really is a separate case from H-unknown H-Known, but if you do it that way, then the total sum of the probability of the two H-H cases equals the probability of the H-T case equals the probability of the T-H case. Here's how that would work:

I flip two coins behind a curtain. With equal probability, I get H-H, or H-T, or T-H, or T-T. Because of the problem parameters, I didn't get T-T. The remaining three possibilities still have equal probability. I now tell you that at least one coin is heads. In the H-T or T-H cases, I am forced to pick the single heads result as the "known" result. In the H-H case, I can choose. Let's say I pick randomly between them with equal chance for each. Then H(k)-H occurs in half of H-H cases, and H-H(k) occurs in the other half of H-H cases.

So now the probability break down looks like this:
P(H(k)-H) = 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6
P(H-H(k)) = 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6
P(H(k)-T) = 1 * 1/3 = 1/3
P(T-H(k)) = 1 * 1/3 = 1/3

If I use some method to pick that gives unequal chances, the individual probabilities of P(H(k)-H) and P(H-H(k)) will change but their combined probability will not. For example, if I pick the first coin 90% of the time, then P(H(k)-H) = 9/10 * 1/3 = 3/10 and P(H-H(k)) = 1/10 * 1/3 = 1/30 for a combined probability of 10/30 = 1/3.

Ah, the wording is a bit artificial. In that case, 1*.25/.75 = 1/3

It is a very artificially constructed question, as there are no real circumstances where both coins are flipped in order and you'd have information regarding only one but not both. The only way to really construct this experiment in the mind is that you flip one, check, and then flip the other.

One way to construct this scenario with coins is as follows:

--I flip two coins behind a curtain
--I tell you that at least one coin is heads
--You can now bet on whether or not both coins are heads

Which bet you should make depends on the betting odds offered. If you're being offered even money, you should bet against both coins being heads.

For a more realistic scenario, we need to move away from coin flips. Say I have a quantum process whereby some particle decays into some other particle 50% of the time. Say I also have a detector that can sense the presence of a given particle but not the amount of that particle. If I start with two particles of the first type, then this exact calculation gives me the odds that both particles have decayed if my detector tells me that at least one has decayed.

You only know that at least one coin is heads.

Exactly so you only worry about one since you know one will be heads.

Let's try presenting this rigorously. The probability of event A happening given that event B has happened is P(A and B)/P(B). In this case, event A is "both coins are heads" and event B is "at least one coin is heads". P(A and B) = P(A) = 1/4. If both coins are heads, then it must be the case that at least one coin is heads, and the odds of getting two heads with no other knowledge is very straightforward. P(B) = 3/4. Namely, if the two flips are anything other than TT, then at least one coin is heads. (1/4)/(3/4) = 1/3.

You can't eliminate one of the coins based on the information that "at least one coin is heads". You would need to know "the first coin is heads" or similar.

Its 50%.

If one of them is guaranteed to land on heads, then the only relevant coin in the calculation is the other one, which has a 50% chance to land on heads or tails.

If you knew that a particular coin had landed heads, this would be correct. You don't. You only know that at least one coin is heads.

Wasn't he made to be able to access anyone's grid, since he starts in the middle and has a very small one of his own?

Yeah, Kimahri owns the mid-late portions of storyline play if you're smart with how you build him. It's true that he does so by picking up other people's high-end skills earlier than they can (barring extreme grinding), but that's precisely what he's designed to be able to do.

Pure joke characters aside, I think this has to go to someone in the Chrono Cross or Suikoden series casts. When the roster of characters gets massive, some of the entries are going to be strictly outclassed.

But that was also over a decade ago; I don't know what current quality is like. I can say that I only change my soles on my SST9's about every year (SST9's have interchangeable soles), and that's with weekly bowling. I also have a shoe brush, which is nice for maintaining the soles.
