There's absolutely unhinged people on circle jerk subreddits in both directions and then you have the game boards here versus the game board at ResetEra where even suggesting Eve looks hot or that you could play the game in a non-revealing costume will get you banned. This game is causing both sides of a dumb culture war to show their entire asses for everyone to see. I am sure I will eventually get the game on sale in the future and whatever status her outfits are in at that point will have no impact on my buying decision. Gameplay is considered good by most critics and players and that's what I play games for.

Most people seem to think so. Actually even at ResetEra the people who play it largely really like it (though you get banned if you say she is hot or anything, so they just avoid commenting on that or saying they enjoyed it despite the sexualization).

Mario 3 holds up really well.

The political compass is useless. It doesn't tell you the fundamental differences between economic systems. Different flavors of capitalism aren't comparable to socialism. They use a fundamentally different model. One involves the means of production in the hands of private entities. The other has it in the hands of workers. The left/right stuff also conflates a bunch of social issues that have nothing to do with economics. So Americans get confused by left-wing nationalism or a right wing party that supports LGBT or immigrants, because their entire concept of politics is just Democrats and Republicans. It's useless to even talk about socialism because people like you refuse to actually engage with the concept and just go on about government spending, welfare, or some other unrelated policy.

Because they don't know what it means. Bernie Sanders doesn't know what it means. He advocated a bunch of social democrat policies which he called socialism like Nordic states have (they aren't socialist). 99% of people don't know what a means of production is let alone what worker control of it would mean.

Regardless of how you may personally feel about Bernie I think you can rationally admit the Democratic party obviously didn't want him as a candidate. It's not some crazy conspiracy. We watched every person drop out and endorse Biden as soon as it looked like Bernie had a chance. Maybe they thought Biden was the best candidate to win the election, maybe they hated Bernie's policies, either way they clearly did not want Bernie to win.

I have zero problem with this being patched out, but as a fellow old I can confirm hard R meant an R-rated movie that really pushed the envelope when we were growing up (80s and 90s).

They usually present one so they can get paid vacation when they murder someone for example. So I assume they have some pretense they're using. When I lived in the US my university often had protests and I never remember police breaking them up. It was considered free speech.

As someone who speaks Japanese you are making a pointlessly weird distinction. Just learn using what's fun. You can work on ironing out any bad habits later. If you learn exclusively from anime and then move to Japan later you will get better naturally from talking to people here. I know people who learned exclusively from anime. They ended up fine. Better than the legion of foreigners who live here years and never bother to learn shit.

It was a thing before release. The default costume was apparently too sexy and they covered him up more. You could get revealing costumes in game, but the default one was way tamer in the release.

I would argue that's the strawman. What is oversexualization and objectification? Because if it's stuff like Bayonetta, 2B, and Eve then I have to wonder what an actual naked woman having sex with someone would be. I made the Mortal Kombat comparison for a reason. The game has gone absolutely as far as you can go on depicting gore and received no criticism... for the gore. They made the costumes less revealing because people thought the women were oversexualized. I just can't comprehend of what causes that kind of thinking outside of puritanical views of sex.

Absolutely. If you find it entertaining then it's better than listening to something that bores you. You should watch it with Japanese subtitles to reinforce what you are hearing as English subtitles will just distract you.

She never got a reduction. It is made up nonsense. She has had an established cup size since Advent Children and Remake used that. This feels like an extreme position. Lots of women and men like sexualized characters and that's okay. It's like saying anyone who likes gore in games is the same as a violent killer. Except this isn't even close to gore. These games are so tame and people make strong statements like that. If you find yourself more concerned about what the girls are wearing in Mortal Kombat than the graphic depiction of someone having their intestines ripped out and being strangled with them, you need to really ask yourself what your priorities are.

The closest thing I watch to subs, would be the Japanese subs on a broadcast. I have heard English dubs before though and especially in games am familiar with English voice acting. The quality is often worse in English, but that's because the industry isn't taken seriously for the most part. I encourage you to watch a documentary on voice acting in Japan. It isn't reading lines in a booth. You have the whole cast together in a big room reacting off each other and a director giving guidance. They do multiple takes, the actors have read the lines many times ahead of time and thought about how their character acts, they are familiar with the show and extremely engaged with the fan base. Most importantly they are paid a lot more.

So the issue with English dubs is you really need someone to naturally be good and self-motivated because the actual production is bare bones and the pay is shit. I was at an anime convention where Steve Blum had a panel. Someone asked him what he thought about Cowboy Bebop. He said he hasn't ever seen it, or any of the anime he voice acts in because he doesn't have the time. And he's a pretty good English actor. A statement like that in Japan would end your career. Fans would be outraged. It's just a totally different industry here.

I really like the gameplay and the story and characters are good enough.

A weak currency is good for exports and bad for imports. If you're an import dependent economy like the US, you want a strong currency. If you're export dependent economy like China, you want a weak currency. Back when Japan was blowing up in the late 80s and early 90s the weak yen was a huge help because they were an export dependent economy. Now though it's complicated. Japan still has a manufacturing base, but it's nothing like it was decades ago. So a weak yen is good for some companies and not for others. Nintendo is primarily based in Japan and most of their sales are overseas, so it's overall good for them.

Entire factions have had their back stories completely rewritten. Necrons, Leagues of Votann (Squats), and Tyranids (Genestealers) being the biggest ones.

Yes, it's really common to make use of North Korean labor in China. They even have restaurants run by North Koreans in China. They used to try to defect to South Korea, but now they get handed over to China and deported to North Korea if they try that.

I can only speak for myself, but it annoys me because of how much Fallout just perpetuates bad myths about just how bad nuclear stuff is.

Fallout is based on the 50s ideas of what the future and nuclear war would be like. It's intentionally wrong. It has crazy mutants and radiation zombies for a reason. The technology is still vacuum tube computers. The internet and cell phones never existed (even though the nukes happened farther into the future than we are now). They didn't even have color television. You also have weird 50s robots and so on. The way you get poisoned by and treat radiation is also not correct for these same reasons. It's not meant to be realistic at all.

Enclave in 2 and Brotherhood of Steel both have Alien tech. Skynet is an NPC that tells you it was made with alien tech. New Vegas gets more alien encounters if you take the Wild Wasteland trait.

I'm guessing they only did aliens to use what was basically common place 50s depictions of aliens and their tech.

The Enclave has alien tech. Skynet was made with alien tech (it tells you so itself). It started out minor in 1, but starting with 2 they became a pretty involved part of the universe.

They're literally in every single mainline Fallout game. Their guns are usually the best weapons in the game.

Actually metal is a good example of gate keeping. It used to have a Nazi problem and then people started gate keeping them out of the community and that was a good thing.

I assume that was their first Fallout game. I personally haven't been bothered by any of the games other than the shitty ones (Brotherhood of Steel), because I never thought the lore or world was very serious. I mean Fallout 1 has the telephone box from Dr. Who, Alien spaceship, whacky radiation zombies, just all kinds of crazy stuff. I don't think it's meant to be taken too seriously. Especially not after Fallout 2. That game has some really whacky stuff in it.

I think 1 is an interesting game but has pretty bad replay value. There isn't a lot to do and once you know where to go there isn't a lot of incentive to wander around. Low intelligence build for funny dialogue, a few interesting choices, but overall not a lot going on.

2 is a masterpiece.

Capcom wasn't happy with the core audience numbers of DMC so they decided to reboot the franchise to make it more appealing to a general audience. Which we know now failed and why they decided to go back to the original franchise with DMC5.

Oh. I think this was just from that black era of Capcom where they gave all there series to random Western devs to make shit games. Konami did the same thing (and still does). Capcom renaissance has been in full swing for a while now.

You could maybe argue that for From Software. There is a vocal minority that wants the games to be easier and they keep ignoring them. Whether you think that's a good thing or not is up to you, but it's possibly an example of that kind of gatekeeping.

Curse of Darkness is probably the best 3D Castlevania. Not saying a lot, but it's something.

Yeah I think it's overall worth reading. I really like 1-3. A lot of people really enjoy 4, but I didn't care much about the backstory. 5-7 definitely get extremely whacky and want you to have read a substantial chunk of other Stephen King books, but overall I enjoyed it.

I think there's a storyline in 3's DLC that takes you back in time and you are fighting off the initial Chinese ground invasion, meaning China likely started the war but who knows who launched the first nuke

In established lore China fired the first nuke and it happens after Alaska is retaken and the US has invaded mainland China.

Aliens have consistently been in all the games, so I do hope the show includes them in some fashion. I personally don't like the corporate conspiracy angle but if they go with it that's fine too. I feel it downplays the war never changes angle (though you could connect it with the Spanish American War and the attempt to sell more newspapers).

I mean the new lore the show seems to be setting is that VaultTec caused the war.
